Joseph Brown Obituary

Joseph A. Brown, 65, of Fort Wayne, Indiana, passed away on Friday, October 20, 2023, at Parkview Regional Medical Center. Joe was born March 19, 1958 on St. Joseph's Feast day. He graduated from New Bremen High School, and then the University of Toledo College of Pharmacy. He was a member of St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church, and a leader within Rekindle the Fire, and the Diocesan Men's Conference. He was a 3rd degree Knight with the Knights of Columbus and served on the stewardship committee, servant-leadership group and was a Homebound Minister of the Eucharist.

Joe worked 22 years at GlaxoSmithKline and finished his career as a consultant pharmacist at InTouch Pharmaceuticals. He was a member of the American Society of Consultant Pharmacists, American Society of Health-System Pharmacists, Indiana Pharmacists Alliance, and a Board-Certified Geriatric Pharmacist.

Joseph is survived by wife of 35 years, Katie (Ohlman) Brown; three daughters, Emily (Andrew) Kelly, Carrie Brown and Amanda Brown; grandchildren, Olivia, Owen and Oliver Kelly; mother, Mary Ann Olding; two brothers, Dan (Kelly) Brown, and Steve (Laura) Brown; sister, Julie Brown. He is also survived by his mother and father-in-law, Toni and Ray Ohlman.

Joseph was preceded in death by his father Jerry Brown.

Joe touched so many people throughout his life, personally and professionally. He had an abundance of energy to serve others; patients, colleagues, friends and family. He had a gift for investing in individual relationships and finding ways to inspire groups. He loved his roles with the Cavemen, Sheepdogs and as a Diaconate formation classmate. Whether he was organizing the men's conference with the core team or hosting a training with his co-workers, he was full of life and love in every role.

Joe loved to golf with his brothers, play with his grandkids and spend time with his wife. He loved travel, music, reading, Indiana basketball and Ohio State football. Most of all he loved people and sharing the love of Jesus with each encounter. He reminds us all that we are loved, never alone and so blessed to know the love of the Father.

I loved Joe Brown! He was such a good person. He laugh was infectious. He really had a positive impact on this world. So sorry to hear of his passing. The last time I saw him was at an Illini football game at Gail and Todd´s tailgate. It was like we saw each other yesterday after not seeing each other for years. He truly connected with everyone and I am fortunate to have known him in my life. I´m a better person for knowing Joe. God bless him and his entire family. Prayers your way!!

Katie, we are so sad to hear of Joe's passing. He certainly had a big influence on me as we attended Promise Keepers together in Indianapolis. Terri & I were fortunate to meet you both while you were living in Bloomington and really enjoyed spending time with you just one year ago. Joe was a great guy with always a positive outlook. Our prayers & thoughts are with you, Emily, Carrie & Amanda.

I worked for Joe Brown with Glaxo in the late 90´s. He was always very professional and a great supporting manager. He was kind and understanding of a young guy starting in the business. I will be forever grateful for the example he showed me on how to treat employees. God rest his soul may he rest in peace. Condolences and prayers to the enter family!
