JOSEPH McCOMB Obituary

JOSEPH S. McCOMB, 72, passed away Monday, June 9, 2014 at Parkview Regional Medical Center in Fort Wayne. He was a native and lifetime resident of Fort Wayne, Joseph graduated from North Side High School in 1960. He was the owner of McComb Construction. He was a member of The Chapel, VFW of Huntertown, a Fort Wayne Community School Board Member from 1989 to 1995. He had signed on with the New York Mets in 1963 and played baseball in the Stan Musial League for 40 years until the age of 56. He also enjoyed bowling and playing golf. Surviving are his wife, Linda F. McComb; mother, Ruth Elizabeth McComb; daughter, Amy L. (Bob) Shank of Fort Wayne; sons, Todd M. (I-Heng) McComb of Mountain View, Calif. and J. Derek (fiance, Toni Ott) Moreno of Fort Wayne; brother, David F. (Margo) McComb of Fort Wayne; sister, Cathleen B. (Randy) Wolfe of Churubusco, Ind.; and grandchildren, Corey, Egan, Audra, and Brynna. He was preceded in death by father, Richard McComb. Memorial Service is 2 p.m. June 14, 2014 at The Chapel, 2505 W. Hamilton Road with calling two hours prior. Pastor Rick Hawks officiating. Burial in Greenlawn Memorial Park, Fort Wayne. I was shocked to hear Joe had passed away! The man taught me so much when I worked for him. He not only taught me constructions skills, but life skills too. He was a good role model. I'll miss him very much. Rick Berghoff
