JOSEPH L. "JOE" SAMPLE

1942 - 2022

JOSEPH "JOE" L. SAMPLE, 79, of Indianapolis, Ind., passed away on the evening of Tuesday, Jan. 11, 2022, at Methodist Hospital with his loved ones at his side. Born Jan. 15, 1942, in Bloomington, he was a son of the late Mary "Cupie" Young and Homer Sample. Joe graduated from Bloomington High School in 1959. He started working for Allison GM UAW 933 until he retired in 1991. Joe's love of sports was known by all. IU basketball being at the very top along with the Indianapolis Colts and NASCAR every weekend. Joe loved to travel with his family to Florida and many other destinations. Joe truly loved spending time with his family and friends. Joe leaves behind two daughters, Khrissy Smith and Karli Sample, along with her fianc‚, Andy; two grandsons, David and Daniel; partner, James "Jim" Norton II; best friend, Mary Lynn; two sisters, Sue and Letha; two brothers, Marc and Bill; and many nephews, nieces, cousins and friends. Joe was preceded in death by his daughter, Sabrina; sister, Jane; parents, and grandparents. There will be no services a per Joe's request. A Celebration of Life will be announced at a later time.
