Keith and Michelle,
While we did not know each other at the time of our childrens deaths, I feel as though I have known you for a long time. We share an unspeakable, unbreakable bond. Josh: You are loved and missed not only by your parents and family, but friends who walked along your side here on Earth. Now you walk among the angels and with my Kari Ann.

To my dearest family, some things I'd like to say...
but first of all, to let you know, that I arrived okay.
I'm writing this from heaven. Here I dwell with God above.
Here, there's no more tears of sadness; here is just eternal love.
Please do not be unhappy just because I'm out of sight.
Remember that I'm with you every morning, noon and night.
That day I had to leave you when my life on earth was through,
God picked me up and hugged me and He said, "I welcome you."
It's good to have you back again; you were missed while you were gone.
As for your dearest family, they'll be here later on.
I need you here badly; you're part of my plan.
There's so much that we have to do, to help our mortal man."
God gave me a list of things, that he wished for me to do.
And foremost on the list, was to watch and care for you.
And when you lie in bed at night, the day's chores put to flight.
God and I are closest to you....in the middle of the night.
When you think of my life on earth, and all those loving years
because you are only human, they are bound to bring you tears.
But do not be afraid to cry; it does relieve the pain.
Remember there would be no flowers, unless there was some rain.
I wish that I could tell you all that God has planned.
But if I were to tell you, you wouldn't understand.
But one thing is for certain, though my life on earth is o'er.
I'm closer to you now, than I ever was before.
There are many rocky roads ahead of you and many hills to climb;
but together we can do it by taking one day at a time.
It was always my philosophy and I'd like it for you too...
that as you give unto the world, the world will give to you.
If you can help somebody who's in sorrow and pain,
then you can say to God at night......"My day was not in vain."
And now I am contented....that my life has been worthwhile,
knowing as I passed along the way, I made somebody smile.
So if you meet somebody who is sad and feeling low,
just lend a hand to pick him up, as on your way you go.
When you're walking down the street, and you've got me on your mind;
I'm walking in your footsteps only half a step behind.
And when it's time for you to go.... from that body to be free,
remember you're not going.....you're coming here to me.

Keith, Michelle, Matt & Amanda,
What a special family you have been in our lives.. Josh was a wonderful man who is missed..until we all get to see him again with God.

Favorite quote:
"In this sad world of ours, sorrow comes to all, and it often comes with bitter agony. Perfect relief is not possible, except with time. You cannot now believe that you will ever feel better. But this is not true. you are sure to be happy again. Knowing this, truly believing it, will make you less miserable now. I have had enough experience to make this statement."

Keeping all of you continually in our thoughts and prayers.

Amstutz Family,
John and I just heard of your family's loss. My oldest daughter Lynsey and I had the pleasure to meet Josh last summer while he was doing some work on our new home that we were getting ready to move into. Josh and his friends decided to make some extra money by doing some painting in the new house. We went back to Missouri to load things up and left Josh in charge of things at the new house. When we arrived at the new house a week later every room was finished. It looked beautiful. As I knew it would, I knew that I could trust Josh even though we had only just met. That was a tribute to you. Draw strength in knowing that Josh was loved by all that had the pleasure of meeting him. Know that he is with the Lord helping him to teach others patience, laughter, and forgiveness. Our thougths and prayers our with your entire family.

Most people search their whole lives trying to find one true friend who has their back thru thick and thin...Josh was only 22 and he had a whole community! As parents, you've got to be proud to have raised such a fun-loving, responsible and caring son.
My hat off to you, my friends (and Josh's friends as well)...my cowboy hat especially!

Matt and Amanda,
I am so sorry. I have been praying for you and your parents to get through this terrible time. Josh was such a jokester; he made everyone laugh. He will be missed by many.
Matt, I especially wanted to stop by and see you during this tough time. I will always remember how you helped me get through that difficult art class with, "It's gonna be a good day, Mrs. Hoff" or "It's gonna be a bad day, Mrs. Hoff."
I tried to stop by the funeral home, but the line was all the way out the door, and I was sure that you all were surrounded by people who loved you and cared for you.
God bless you.

ooh my goodness...
where do i start....it all starts back when you think your life can't get any worse and then you have to tell yourself that someone out there has it worse than you do yourself, even though this is a tragic time you have to know and tell yourself that everything happens for a reason..the reason why josh came into this world the reason why he touched so many people it doesn't need to take a life. in this living world to know that josh had an impact on almost everyone he met,,, he already had accomplished that...it's been a little while since i have seen him but even that he was someone you always remembered either just laughing with him or having a good time just in general...i am greatly sorry..my biggest fear in life is losing my little boy and i cannot imagine the restlessness you must feel but to know that you have many many people that feel that same pain as you do and are feeling now that will forever be with them has to give you a little bit of strength..so i pray that eventually you will find peace in each other, as a couple, and a family, as well as a community that we are all in this together...a village... god bless you

My son and daughter both went to school with Josh at Leo, and in reading other entries in this book, I can see what a very special and wonderful young man he was. I met him when he visited at our house several times, most recently when my own two kids had an "after college" graduation party at our house a couple months ago.
My heart goes out to all his family as you each try to deal with this terrible loss. But, also to all his good friends from Leo.... I know that Josh's absence will truly leave a hole in your lives that can never be filled, though he will also always be in your hearts. My prayers are with you, that you may find strength with God to help you through each day.
I, and my children, are so deeply sorry for your loss.

Josh was one of the first people that I had met when I moved to Fort Wayne about 7 years ago. He took me in as if he had known me forever. He showed me a good time but more importantly he showed me how big of a heart he had and what his friends and family truly meant to him. He loved life and it showed everytime anyone talked to him. The weird noises and "judas" is definately Josh! He will be missed dearly but never forgotten.

Josh was one of the first guys that I met when I first moved to Fort Wayne about 7 yrs ago. He took me in as if he had known me for years. He showed me a great time and always knew how to put a smile on my face. Even though we weren't as close now, we still had a good time when we would run into eachother. He touched my life and will never be forgotten. His noises, crazy times, and love will live on forever.

josh has been a big part of my life for over 8 years and been one of my best friends for about 5. i am having a hard time imagining my life with out him being a large part of it. the one thing we can all share about josh no matter how close we were to him is his incredible personality. i knew him best for his great personality, unbreakable friendship, unmatched caricter, and great faith in the lord. nothing will ever be able to replace the void in my heart that his passing left me with, and i dont want anything to. i will never forget you josh if i live to be 110. but i sure hope i get to see you in heaven a hole lot sooner than that. love you so much!!

Words seem so wrong at a time like this. Please know that you are in my thoughts. Keep in mind that God granted you a very special time with Josh. He taught many people how to live and have God be a part of their life. From the things that have been said, I can tell that you both set a wonderful example of what life should be and he ran with it.

I cannot begin to express the sadness that I feel for you. I have read all the entries and have searched for the right words to say. There are none. I hope you have always known how very special you are to me and my family and how much I love you. You have always been there for Jessica and me displaying your kindness and love. It was a favor I wish I would never have to repay, but will do so with all the love, kindness and friendship that I know how. We will be praying for peace and the comfort of God's love and promises to get you through this very difficult time. Today, tomorrow, next week and forever, I know that you will need all your family, friends, and especially your faith to get you through, day by day. Keith & Michelle,
I cant tell you how blessed we have been to have Josh as a neighbor. He was such a kind and loving person; it was so nice to have him be a great example to our kids. We always enjoyed the visits from him on his motorcycle, tractor or a snowmobile. I don’t think there was a time when he left our house on his motorcycle that he didn’t ride a wheelie all the way across our back yard I would tell the kids,” Look, that’s how Josh waves to us”! We all miss you Josh. You are in our prayers, and always in our hearts.

I am so sorry about your loss. I can only imagine what it is like to lose a child. Joshua was in my Sunday School class years ago. Even then he was helping others and was a "teachers helper." He was always right next to me. I am proud of the man he had become. Heaven is rejoicing in the angel they have found. He is now God's helper in heaven. My prayers and thoughts are with you at this most difficult time.

KEITH AND MICHELLE,
I HAVE ALWAYS FELT LIKE THE AMSTUTZ AND MAHLOCK FAMILY ARE JUST THAT, "FAMILY". OUR HEARTS ARE HURTING FOR YOU TWO AND THE ENTIRE FAMILY. THE PAIN WE WOULD NOT WANT TO IMAGINE. KNOWING WHAT A GOOD CHRISTIAN JOSH WAS TELLS ME THE LORD HAD A VERY SPECIAL JOB FOR A VERY SPECIAL ANGEL EVEN IF IT IS WAY TOO SOON IN OUR EYES. MAY THE LORD SEND JOSHUA AND HIS LARGE ANGEL WINGS TO HOLD YOU CLOSE.

I lived on the corner of Hardisty and Popp. During December 2002 I got my truck stuck in the snow in front of my driveway. Matt came by and offered to help so we rode down to your house. Matt got Josh and told him someone needed help. Josh then took the "perfectly" clean pickup out in the snow and pulled me out of the ditch. Yes, even I was toched by Josh's kindness and willingness to help. I will never for that. I am so sorry for your loss.
