JOYCE E. DICE, 75, of Eel River Township, died Friday, Aug. 28, 2009, at Parkview North Hospital. A native of Huntington, she graduated from Huntington High School in 1952 and from Parkview School of Nursing in 1955. She worked as a Registered Nurse at Byron Health Center, as well as Parkview and St. Joseph Hospitals, retiring in 1999. She was a member of Christ's Hope Church and Parkview Alumni Association. She was also a Sunday School teacher and enjoyed swimming, traveling and her flower garden. She especially loved her children and grandchildren. Surviving are her husband of 52 years, Keith M. Dice; children, Karen (Lee) Sloffer, Kathy (Mark) Wehrle and Kevin H. (Dawn) Dice, all of Fort Wayne; her mother, Katherine Whitacre of Fort Wayne; sister, Marjorie Bowden of Urbana, Ill.; brother, James (Elaine) Whitacre of Huntington; and grandchildren, Cole, Hope, Drew, Brooke and Blake Wehrle, and Laura, Grant and Katie Sloffer. She was preceded in death by her father, Paul Whitacre; and a daughter, Karla K. Dice, in 1982. Service is 11 a.m. Wednesday at Christ's Hope Church, 2818 Carroll Road, with calling one hour prior at the church. Pastor Erick Riddle officiating. Calling also from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at Sheets & Childs Funeral Home in Churubusco. Burial in Eel River Cemetery, Allen County. Memorials to the church.
