JOYCE L. NELSON

JOYCE L. NELSON, 80, of Tolchester, Md., passed away on Monday, April 18, 2016, in Shore Medical Center, Chestertown, Md. Born Dec. 2, 1935, she was a daughter of the late Charles and Bethel Payne Lavine. She was raised in Angola, Ind., where she was a 1953 graduate of Angola High School. She married Tom Buckley from Rock Hall, Md., moving to the area and working KP at the Nike Base in Tolchester. She later married Curtis Nelson, he preceded her in death in 1991 after 19 years of marriage. For 25 years, she was a receptionist for Dr. Hart in Chestertown and later worked the switchboard at the hospital. Joyce was an avid reader and an electronics buff. She is survived by her sons, W. Cole Buckley of Garrett, Ind. and Scott Buckley of Texas. She was also preceded in death by a brother, Glenn Lavine; and a sister, Gloria Brown. Services will be held privately.
