Kristiana Nixon Obituary
Kristiana Kaye (Sherrer) Nixon, 46, passed away on January 20, 2024, in Loa, Utah. She was born September 4, 1977, in Eldorado, Arkansas. She moved to Crossville, Tennessee as a young child with her parents Pauline and the late Perry Dean Sherrer. A graduate of Tennessee Tech University, she has her bachelor's degree in accounting and a master's in instructional leadership.
Kristi loved to travel with family and had a sense of adventure that took her all over the world. She and her children, Grace Kaye Nixon, 19 and Patrick Garvice Nixon, 21 traveled extensively. One of their favorite trips was backpacking through Europe. On several occasions, she planned wonderful trips for her extended family to enjoy together. Kristi's love of travel is only rivaled by her love of being on Dale Hollow Lake in Tennessee. When not traveling or working, she could be found on her houseboat enjoying the beauty and serenity of lake life.
Kristi's impact in her communities, both in Indiana and Tennessee, is clearly seen through her professional and entrepreneurial successes which began over 10 years ago when she bravely embarked on a new adventure with Express Employment Professionals International. Kristi's Express Employment Offices have been recognized for their excellence and achievement in sales, recruitment, and placement by Express Employment Professionals International year after year. Kristi received numerous awards for her leadership in helping people find just the right job and helping companies find the people they needed. She dubbed herself a "matchmaker." Her passion was to help people find jobs because it gave them hope and strengthened the community as a whole.
Nixon bought her first Express territory in Cookeville, Tennessee in 2012. With the help of her longtime friend and business partner, Tasha Otte, they expanded into neighboring areas with satellite offices to better serve nine counties in the Upper Cumberland region of Tennessee.
Having family in Indiana and her longtime business partner originally from Ohio, Kristi wanted to expand her Express Employment Professionals success to serve the communities of Fort Wayne, Huntington, and Marion Indiana. In July of 2020, she, Tasha Otte and Tammy Oakes opened the doors of Express Fort Wayne and immediately began serving the community. In December of 2021, Kristi and Tasha Otte opened their Huntington Office, serving the Huntington & Marion region.
Kristi was focused on being near family. While she constantly maintained her connection to Tennessee as her son Patrick attends Tennessee Technological University, she also relocated to Fort Wayne for a period and most recently shifted to San Deigo, California where her daughter attends the University of San Deigo.
