Larry DeLoyd Misner, of Fort Wayne, IN, passed away on July 17, 2025, after 87 years of life. Larry was born on Feb. 9, 1938 to Helen and DeLoyd Misner in Buck Creek, Ind. He graduated from Buck Creek High School in 1956 and worked his way through college on road construction crews. Larry was the first in his family to graduate from college, earning his Bachelor of Science degree in Industrial Economics from the Purdue University School of Science in 1960.
After college, he served as a U.S. Army Intelligence Officer in Korea. Upon completing his service, Larry worked for State Farm Insurance in Lafayette, Ind., the Indiana State Highway Commission in Indianapolis, and Harding, Dahm and Company in Fort Wayne as a real estate appraiser. In 1979, he established Misner & Associates, an industrial and commercial valuation consulting firm, which he led until his retirement in February 2024 at age 86.
In 1985, Larry was elected to the National Governing Council of the American Institute of Real Estate Appraisers and was a member of the National Society of Real Estate Appraisers. He achieved his Senior Real Property Appraiser designation and MAI from the Appraisal Institute.
Larry met his first wife, Anna May Wilkerson Misner, at State Farm, and they were married in 1964. Together they had three children, Jeffrey Todd Misner, David Scott Misner, and Scott Anthony Misner.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Helen, his father, DeLoyd, his older sister, Joann Liebert, and his grandchild, Wesley Misner.
Larry is survived by his sister, Jan Misner, his son, David Misner and family, including wife Sue Misner, son Cameron Misner and wife Bailey Misner, and daughter Elise Misner. He is also survived by his son Scott Misner, and family, including Katrina LeBlanc and son Zachary Misner.
In 1999, Larry married his second wife, Betty Victorson Misner. He is survived by Betty and her children Jeff Victorson, Jennifer Miguel, Jamiee Wilkinson, Jill Thomley and their spouses, and her 13 grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren.
Larry was a longstanding member of the John Purdue Club and an avid Purdue sports fan. He also completed numerous Fort Wayne Marathons and qualified for the Boston Marathon in his mid-40s. Throughout his life, Larry enjoyed his grandchildren's scholastic achievements and activities.
Visitation services will be held in Fort Wayne at FairHaven Funeral Home on July 26 from 4:00-8:00 p.m. Funeral services will be held at Harvest Fellowship Church on July 27 at 1:30 p.m. Burial services will be held in West Lafayette at Tippecanoe Memory Gardens on July 28 at 12:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the Purdue Institute for Cancer Research.
