LONNIE FRAUHIGER Obituary

LONNIE G. FRAUHIGER, 63, passed into eternal life Oct. 29, 2011. He fought a rare cancer with stoicism and grace for three years with his beloved wife Melanie at his side throughout his illness. Born Nov. 15, 1947, in Bluffton, Ind., he was the son of Herbert and Lucile (Isch) Frauhiger. His mother survives him. A 1966 graduate of Bluffton High School, Lonnie worked for Standard Federal Bank in Fort Wayne for two years before becoming the manager of the Bluffton Standard Federal branch, where he spent the next eight years. He then worked for Union Federal Bank as the Executive Vice President, until his retirement in 2002, after more than 30 years in the banking industry. He enjoyed spending time at his farm, in his workshop and vacationing with his wife. "Lonnie treasured the times spent with his family. He will be lovingly remembered for his beautiful smile, grand sense of humor and sharing his wisdom mentoring friends and family." Surviving are five children, Lisa Smith of Fishers, Ryan (Rusty) Frauhiger of Noblesville, Farah (Matt) Swaim of Evanston, Ill., Zach and Dylan Frauhiger of Zionsville; stepchildren, Greg (Lisa) Falahee of Sudbury, Mass., and Ashley (Fiancé Tyson Harvon) Falahee of Lawton, Okla.; nine grandchildren; a brother, Les (Ann) Frauhiger of Bluffton; and a sister, Beverly (Steve) Miner of Fort Wayne. Service is 3 p.m. on Tuesday, Nov. 1, 2011, at Flanner and Buchanan Funeral Centers, 325 E. Carmel Dr., Carmel, IN; where friends and family are invited to gather from 1 pm until time of services. Burial will be held at Carmel Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to MD Anderson Cancer Center Sarcoma Research 1515 Holcombe Blvd. Houston, TX 77030.
