MARGERY HUGHES Obituary

MARGERY ROBERTA KIEHL HUGHES, 90, died Tuesday, June 10, 2014 at Kingston at Dupont in Fort Wayne. She was born on Nov. 2, 1923 in Onondaga, N.Y. a daughter of Roger William Kiehl and Ethel Lillian Manwarren. After graduating from Buffalo State Teachers College, she taught 6th and 7th grades in Clyde, N.Y. On April 5, 1947, she married Wendell B. Hughes and honeymooned in Cuba. She obtained her Masters degree from St. Francis and taught 4th grade at St. John's Catholic School in Fort Wayne. She self published two books, "Letters to My Mother 1948 to 1953" and an extensive work "The Kiehl/Manwarren Genealogy 1620 to 1991". Surviving are her daughters, Pamela (Wayne) Garrison of Fort Wayne, Dr. Wendy (Frank) Fish of Nashville, Tenn., Dr. Tamar (Wayne) Hendrick of Baldwinsville, N.Y., and son, Jay D. Hughes of Fort Wayne; sister, Lucinda Kiehl of Liverpool, N.Y.; seven grandchildren, Sarah (Greg) Lake, Ben Garrison, Rachel (Kevin) Mills, Michael (Anna) Hughes, David Hughes, Hannah Fish, and Emily Fish; and six great-grandchildren, Dylan, Devon, Grace, Jaida, Molly, and Lucas. She was preceded in death by her husband, Wendell; and sister, Gwenn Munger. Private services. Memorials to Genealogy Department, Allen County Public Library, 900 Library Plaza, Fort Wayne, (IN 46802).

She was a lovely and gentle woman.Her daughters and son followed in her footsteps. Her baby sister was very special to her and visa versa. She will be soley missed by her family..
