MARILYN HELGESEN Obituary

MARILYN A. HELGESEN, 77, of Churubusco, passed away on Thursday, Jan. 15, 2015, at Wesley Health Care, Auburn, after a four year battle with Bulbar ALS. She graduated from Churu busco High School in 1955 and retired from Dana Corporation in Churubusco after 27 years. She was a member of Churubusco United Methodist Church. Surviving are her children, Vicky (Rusty) McPike, Donna Helgesen, Andrew (Joan) Helgesen, Arnold Helgesen, Gregory (Laurie) Helgesen, Susan Teller, Stephanie (Samuel) Schnurr, and Cheryl (Rich) Snavley; sister, Nancy (Norm) Stump; 21 grandchildren; and 15 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, Luey J. and Florence (Ott) Wade; sisters, Betty LaRue and Hilda Wade; brothers, Everett Rhodes and Gary Wade; and son-in-law, Edwin Teller. Service is 11 a.m. Tuesday at Churubusco United Methodist Church, with visitation one hour prior. Pastor Corinne Boruff-Stucker officiating. Visitation also from 2 to 8 p.m. Monday at Sheets & Childs Funeral Home, Churubusco. Burial in Riverview Cemetery, south of Churubusco. Memorials to ALS of Greater Chicago or University of Chicago Department of Neurology. Online condolences at www.sheetsandchilds.net or Facebook.
