Mary Mishler Obituary

Mary E. Mishler, 90, of Fort Wayne, received the ultimate Christmas gift as she passed into the arms of her Lord and Savior on Christmas Day, December 25, 2025, She was born on December 14, 1935 in Elizabethtown, PA to Russell and Anna Martin who predeceased her. She attended Bob Jones University where she met her future husband, Bob. She was wed to Robert (Bob) Mishler on February 16, 1957 and they shared 66 wonderful years together before his passing in October of 2023. She couldn't wait to see him again! Mary was an elementary school teacher for over 30 years, teaching at Study Elementary School and Ft. Wayne Christian Schools. During that time she also obtained her Masters in Education from Ball State University. Upon retiring from teaching she began serving on staff at Blackhawk Ministries where she and Bob had been a founding family and members. She loved her church home and in her later years missed being able to attend regularly. She also worked at LS Ayres but mainly for the employee discount! Mary was an accomplished violinist and played in church as well as many community orchestras and various musical productions. Mary had a wonderful sense of humor and loved a good pun, also she rarely met a book she didn't like! More than that she loved her family deeply and was their biggest cheerleader and protector. She couldn't wait to hear what was going on in the daily lives of her kids, grandkids, and great-granddaughters and was great about being a good listener, when she had her hearing aids in!

Special thanks to the staff at the Towne House Retirement Community as many of them became friends and found her to be someone they could laugh with and talk to. She loved hearing about what was going on in each of your lives as well.

She is survived by her son, Michael (Dawn) Mishler; daughter, Susan (Michael) Robey; grandchildren, Sean (Siri) Bundy, Stefan (Catherine Ann) Bundy, Chris (Tori) Robey, Andrew Mishler and Anna Mishler, as well as great-granddaughters, Georgia Grace Bundy and Charlotte Parker Bundy. She is also survived by a brother, Richard Martin; sisters-in-law, Louise Martin and Jean Martin; numerous nieces and nephews and childhood friend, Nancy Prichard. She was predeceased by her parents; her husband, Bob; and brothers, Russell and James. Funeral service will be on Saturday, January 3, 2026 at 4:00 pm at Fairhaven Funeral Home and Cremation Services (6557 N. Clinton Street, Fort Wayne, IN 46825) with visitation beginning at 2:00 pm until the time of service. Michael and Susan, due to health issues we were not able to attend the service and share our condolences with you in person. Even though the last time we saw you was probably at an MSL picnic we still remember those times and the wonderful friendship we had with your folks, and we want you to know that we care and are praying for you and your families as you work your way through the grieving process.
