He had a lot to give he was like an angel that came to help me and watch over me. I know he was an angel for lots of peaple. I will miss him calling and saying "hey I have a new business that I am trying out and thought of you to come work with me". He always said "hey I am alway watching out for you girl." Jernigan Family,
I worked with Rex for 2 years, and always thought the world of him. He was such a trustworthy, kind, thoughtful, fun guy. Every time I would see him, he would greet me "hi friend". I will miss that. He also had the best smile. One of those comforting smiles that somehow always made you feel that everything was ok. I am so sorry for your loss, I know a time like this is completely devistating. (my father passed in 06 unexpectedly) You are all in my thoughts and in my prayers.
Find comfort in the lord, and know that he is with him. Always keep your eyes wide and you will find him close to you.

Karen, Preston and Amber, I met Rex back in 1966 when his good friend and my husband Jim ran around together. I always liked Rex and he was such a neat guy to be around. He was with Jim and I alot as we dated and was such a 'little' gentleman at the time. I know Jim and Rex didn't really keep in touch but Jim talked about him all the time. He meant a lot to Jim. If there is anything we can do, don't hesitate to call. I know Jim would be honored!
Allow God to help in the healing process...Rex would want that!

If you are lucky once in a life time you meet someone like Rex. I had that honor and privilege to meet Rex in the business setting at Robert Half. Meeting Rex for the first time was like meeting an old friend. Rex was a man with integrity, creditability, honor and respect. He was one of the chosen ones.
In thinking of Rex’s passing I offer you the following:

What is Success?

To laugh often and much,
To win the respect of honest critics and endure the betrayal of false friends,
To appreciate beauty
To find the best in others,
To leave the world a bit better, whether by a healthy child, a garden patch or a redeemed social condition.
To know that even one life has breathed easier because you lived:

This is to succeed.
My life breathed easier because of Rex and in all terms REX SUCEEDED.

God Bless

Jernigan Family,
Our sincere sympathy to all of you on the passing of Rex. Ed worked with him at Kelley's and thought Rex was a wonderful young man. We had Rex, Karen and Amber spend a week's vacation at our mobile home at Coldwater Lake, Mi. many years ago. Amber, then around 2, called Ed, "Edgy" which we never forgot. May God keep His Loving Arms around all of you during this difficult time.

Jernigans & Family

It saddens me to know that I never got the chance to actually tell Rex how much he has meant to my life and my family. He was a true inspiration to all who knew him & loved him. My sister Danielle & I felt at times that Rex was the father figure that we much needed in our lives and we will truly miss that sensational Rexie wisdom & charm. To his family I am so sorry to hear of your loss! In a time when heroes are few and far between, Rex always stood out as one of the good guys and I will never forget him for his compassion & friendship. God Bless to Karen & the Kids for this is truly a case of Gone Too Soon! He will certainly be missed by all!

Hey there Preston!!!! It has been tough the last couple months. It will still be hard to go on, but just remember your dad's smile. That is what I loved about him the most. Amber,

Hey Amber.... I wrote on here earlier about Uncle Rex. I thought I would write to you and Preston. It has been a long journey for all of us, but in the end it feels like we have lost. Well we didn't. Your journey through college might have seemed hard, but your dad helped you through. I have always looked up to you and to your achievements. Just think there are many more journeys to get through, but Uncle Rex will be right by our sides always!!!!

Love you very much,
Bronson Engquist

I am so sorry for your loss. Your Dad was truly a great man and one of a kind. He knew how to connect with everyone he ever met.

I really enjoyed all the fun dinners and music discussions we had over the years. He is a big part of Ft Wayne that I will forever miss.

You all are in my thoughts and prayers.

Your friend,

Rex is the reason we are all houseboaters having found the first houseboat and introducing us to that life. He was always a classy, caring man. We will all miss him and his DJ voice on the ship to shore radio. I am sure that you have already connected with Noah, the original houseboater up there. Love, Linda & Randy aka "Chasing Dreams".
