To the family of PFC Langenbrunner (LB);
I had only knew your son for a short few months prior to his passing, but I grew to appreciate, and respect him. He was a good soldier. He was well liked in the unit, and his passing hit everyone hard.
I came across this page completely by accident today and I had to write.
I still think of your son a lot. He will walk with me forever alongside all the other soldiers who gave their lives that I knew over a lifetime in the service.
I wish to convey my sorrow for your loss and that I will keep your son Richard and your family in my thoughts and prayers.

For some reason I started to think about all the good times that LB and I shared together. I really miss that kid. He was always one to make people feel welcome and although he was quiet at times he certainly knew how to make us all laugh. I pray for him and for his family. Also a thank you to his family who continued to support us while we continued our fight over in Baghdad. Thank you so much and your son will be forever missed.

Holding you all in my thoughts and prayers today.

The Wind on The Downs

“I like to think of you as brown and tall,
As strong and living as you used to be,
In khaki tunic, Sam Brown belt and all,
And standing there and laughing down at me.
Because they tell me, dear, that you are dead,
Because I can no longer see your face,
You have not died, it is not true, instead
You seek adventure in some other place.
That you are round about me, I believe;
I hear you laughing as you used to do,
Yet loving all the things I think of you;
And knowing you are happy, should I grieve?
You follow and are watchful where I go.”

(Written by Marian Allen during World War l )

Two lines that I wish you to keep near your heart…….

“You seek adventure in some other place.
That you are round about me, I believe”

I did not know Richard, but I am remembering on
this day he gave his all.
He is my hero.

Richard, Buddy. I met you your senior year, my super senior year. I asked what you were going to do after high school and you said, "I'm joining the army" with a serious look on your face. No smile at all. Never thought I'd be siging the guestbook for your death buddy, I'll always remember you homie keep it real up there in the sky.

There is nothing that I can say or do to take away the pain or bring you peace in your time of sorrow, but I will offer you and your family my heart felt condolences. I also offer you my prayers that in time the pain will easy and the memories of your HERO will carry you through each day and night. I want to thank your HERO, for his/her selfless act of becoming a member of the armed forces, his/her willingness to defend the United States of America, all that we hold sacred and for the sacrifice that will forever be etched in the memories of all those who knew him/her. Though tears can never bring him/her back, we hope that our tears express our gratitude for the sacrifice that he/she made and our sorrow at his/her passing. I believe for every fallen HERO there is a star shining brightly up above to remind us of the precious gift we were given.

Your mission on earth is complete and you are now a member of GOD’s Heavenly armed forces. Stand down brave warrior and take your rightful place in Heaven with all the HEROES who have passed before.

I made a special promise to LE RON A. WILSON, a dear family friend who joined the Army with three other friends, one of whom is my son (Le Ron was killed in action on 07/06/07 at the age of 18) on the day he was laid to rest as I touched his coffin, that I would never forget him nor would I forget those that gave their lives for our country before him, with him and after him and so when I came across www.legacy.com, I thought what a great way to keep my promise to Le Ron, so I will continue to leave tributes in each guest book until the day there is no longer the need to leave these tributes to a FALLEN HERO.

REST IN PEACE, HERO, YOU WILL NEVER BE FORGOTTEN!!

“Soldier”
Written to Honor the Service of Our Fallen Soldiers

Soldiers write history…they pay the price
Many miles distant, you live the life
Entered the Battle of our own free will
Out of Duty for Country, and we’d do it still

We hope and pray that all will find peace
In God, in the flag, in memories of valor
Gone now, our pride and courage you see
“An Army of One” our motto forever

Willing to risk all for love of our Brothers
We’re still Your Soldiers…and we showed the way
Our Lives too short, now pray for the others
Lived free died Heroes in lands far away

Deep within souls all cherished our Service
We’ll always have what some never know
Courage and Honor, our names forever
Lived life with purpose…just our time to go

We march in the Heavens with Honor and Glory
Missions accomplished we fought the Good Fight
Many years from now…we’ll tell the full story
Until that Day we will live in the Light

Our lives we laid down in a land far away
Still watching o’er you this night and by day
No need to talk…just know we are with you
There in your hearts and we hear what you pray

Yes we are your soldiers
Our lives we laid down
Still We guard o’er you
Still Duty bound

Entered the Battle of our own free will
Out of Duty for Country, and we’d do it still
We’ll always have what some never know
Lived life with purpose…it was our time to go

I have never met you, nor your son, but 25 years I lived in Fort Wayne before I left for active duty in the Air Force. I am now a veteran of the AF, but still married to the service. I keep up with the news back home and my heart breaks to know that Fort Wayne has lost one of its finest. The military is a family of its own because our own families are so very far away. We take care of one another, even when we are strangers. Please know that even though we've never met, I will pray for your family. I thank you for your son's heroic service. May God bless and keep you, may God's face shine on you, may God be kind to you and give you peace.

PVT Langenbrunner, I will always remember the first day you came to Basic Training at Fort Knox. From the first week of training to the 15th week of training, I watched as you transitioned from civilian to a strong soldier. You always had that "Never Quit Attitude." You were a true inspiration for other trainee's to follow. You had a big heart and was always there to help your battle buddies.

Langenbrunner Family: As your son's Drill Sergeant, it was an honor to train your son. I remember him as quiet and shy but had a strong heart and was always there to lend a hand to any of his battle buddie's. He was full of character and was proud to be in the Army. PVT Langenbrunner will never be forgotten and will be missed by all he touched.

Mr. Langenbrunner: I am very sorry to hear of the loss of your son. I can't begin to imagine what this feels like. We hope the thoughts and prayers of everyone go straight to your heart, and rest there.

April 24, 2007

To the Family and Friends of this Soldier:
I will stand in grief with this soldier's family to honor him. For every fallen HERO there is a bright star that shines in the evening sky to remind us of the cherished gift we were given – even if for too short a time.
My heart breaks again as I sign yet another guest book of another courageous young soldier who gave their life so selflessly. I wish I never found myself in a position to have to sign another guestbook for the rest of my life, but I promised Brent that neither he nor any like him would be forgotten and so I will continue until the day there is no longer the need.
We lost our son SFC Brent A. Adams on 12/1/05 and it seems like yesterday. I wish so badly there were things I could say to you right now to make the pain you are feeling go away, but I know first hand there simply are no words that will bring you the comfort and peace your heart aches for. Just know that you are not alone. My heart, thoughts, and prayers are with you all as you go through this tragedy moment by moment and as you mourn this loss.
We don't know each other, will probably never meet, but will forever be united in the loss of our Heroes. We have, unfortunately joined a group none of us wanted to join, an ever-growing group of families in this situation. May God grant you peace and strength to get through this and be able once again to smile at a memory rather than have only the tears that flow so easily now. To be so proud of your loved one and so saddened at the same time is a mix of emotions very difficult to deal with as our hearts both burst with pride and pain together.
I am sorry that I never knew your soldier personally. While they can never be replaced, neither will they ever be forgotten. You must trust that sometime, someday the loving memories you have will help to sustain you and help you go on. This courageous soldier will forever be your Angel watching over you all for the rest of your lives. It's what brings me some measure of peace and comfort and I hope it will you as well.
To his family and friends in pain, I offer this comfort: When you find yourself in that dark sorrowful place, think not only of how you will miss him, but instead recall the years, days, hours and minutes gifted to you by his presence. The one thing that cannot be taken from you is your wonderful memories that now will mean more than ever.
If you ever want to talk, I'm only an e:mail away and would love for you to tell me more about your Hero.
God Bless this soldier and family who gave all and God Bless legacy.com for setting up this site where families can so quickly share their condolences and prayers with others like themselves.

Dear Rick, Mary Ann and Crystal:
One can only imagine how proud you are of such a fine son and brother!
Although Richard's life on earth was so very short, my memories of the good years he shared with his late grandfather and myself will never be forgotten. The happy times with "Ricky", Crystal and Daisy on summer vacations here will always be cherished and remembered with great love. May God grant him eternal rest, and may each of you find comfort and strength together during this most difficult time.

Richard you were a true friend. We sat next to each other in our accounting class and we would talk during class whenever we had a chance. Then you offered me a ride to and from school and I always enjoyed your company. I remember we would do something after school every Friday. I will deeply miss you. I know you are in a better place and I want to thank you for serving our country. I will cherish and never forget the good times I spent with you.

My prayers go out to the family.Your son was a wonderful person. He was one of the most caring people I know. May his memory live on forever.

PVT Langenbrunner, I will never forget the first day you stepped in the United States Army. Little did I know that over the tenure of the next 15 weeks you would make a major impact in the Army. You were a true example of the 'Warrior Ethos': I WILL ALWAYS PLACE THE MISSION FIRST, I WILL NEVER ACCEPT DEFEAT, I WILL NEVER QUIT, AND I WILL NEVER LEAVE A FALLEN COMRADE.

Langenbrunner Family: It was a privledge to train your son. I remember him as quiet and timid but he had a big heart and offered a hand to anyone in need. He was bright and full of joy to be in the Army. B co 2-81 AR will never forget our Hero, PVT Langenbrunner.
You will be missed the mighty 4th PLT (HELLHOUNDS)!

Rick, Mary, and Crystal,
We send out deepest sympathy to you at this time. As neighbors we always will remember Rick in the yard gardening, practicing his bow, or starting a campfire. It made us proud as neighbors to say that the boy next door was serving our country. We know how proud you are of your son and his service. Please let us know if there is anything we can do to help you out. We have been thinking and praying for all of you.

Dear Rick, Mary abd Crystal,
My deepest sympathy for the loss of Richard.
It is hard to find someone you can look up to and hope that you can be as brave and honorable as they are. Richard went above and beyond this. He is and will always be a hero to our family and to this country.
No matter where you are or what you are doing, Richard will always be right there beside you....
God blessed our family with Richard and with the memories he left you...there is nothing that can take that away...

As always, you are in my thoughts and prayers...

Words cannot express the deep sorrow I have for Richard's family. I know how much honor and respect his uncle had for him. Although I have never met Richard, I felt that I had a chance to know him through Fr. Norm.

My heart goes out to you and may you feel the hug of the Heavenly Father around Richard and all of you.
