RITA MARIE MARGARET STRACK

1928 - 2021

RITA MARIE MARGARET (BECKMAN) STRACK, 92, won her Victory on Tuesday, March 30, 2021, at home with family at her side. Born Oct. 23, 1928, she was the daughter of Joseph and Alma (Sorg) Beckman of rural Hoagland. She attended St. Joseph Hessen Cassel school and graduated from Hoagland High School. She married Godfrey F. "Cap" Strack on Feb. 12, 1949. She was an avid reader especially European history, and enjoyed opera, TV shows Jeopardy, Twilight Zone and Alfred Hitchcock. "Lost to us for the time being is her instant recall of kinships in extended families of her mother and father." Mysteriously, she possessed an unfailing love for her husband and children. She is survived by sons, Greg (Irene) Strack of Hoagland, Paul (Melanie) Strack of Monroeville, Tim (Insuk) Strack of New Jersey, Jeff "Ozzy" (Becky) Strack of Decatur, Andy (Yvonne) Strack of Kendallville, and Joe (Shelby) Strack of Fort Wayne; daughters, Eileen (Danny, deceased) Hoskins of Fort Wayne, Carolyn (John) Spenn of Fort Wayne, Margaret Meyer of Fort Wayne, Beth (Tim) Sensibaugh of Fort Wayne, and Jane (Scott) Beerman of Coldwater, Mich. Also surviving are her brother, John F. Beckman Sr.; sister, Odelia (Tom, deceased) Malott; 35 grandchildren, 39 great-grandchildren, and one great-great-grandchild. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; brothers, Robert Beckman (died in childhood), Walter Beckman, Wilbert (Cy) Beckman, Gerald Beckman, and Charles Beckman; and granddaughters, Heather Bender and Teresa Strack. Mass of Christian Burial is 1:30 p.m. Tuesday, April 6, 2021, at St. Joseph Catholic Church - Hessen Cassel, 11337 Old Decatur Road, Fort Wayne (IN 46816), with visitation one hour prior. Visitation also from 2 to 7 p.m. Monday, April 5, 2021, at Elzey-Patterson-Rodak Home For Funerals, 6810 Old Trail Road, Fort Wayne (IN 46809), with a Rosary service at 6:30 p.m. Burial will be at the church cemetery. Preferred memorials are to the St. Joseph Hessen Cassel School Renewal Project and masses.
