I got to know Bob in December of last year. He was quick witted and had a great sense of humor. I was acting as a caregiver to another resident. I would try to walk with her after meals. Bob would me hobbling with my cane and say, "It looks to me like you are the one who needs the caregiver...She can outwalk you." This always brought a smile to my face. When he was feeling well enough to sit in activity room I heard him sing on more than one occasion. I made sure to tell him how much I loved his voice. He sounded like Bing Crosby and Andy Williams. He also was sharp when they would play the brain teaser games. I became very fond of him. I think it could be that we shared something in common...humor, playing the saxophone, and singing. I would listen to him when he wanted to lie down, but had to sit up. I could see him starting to decline over the past few months. I will miss him. I find hope in knowing he is at peace, reunited with his wife and other family. Bob Jr. my condolences to you and all your family. You were an awesome son! I am sorry I could not appear to pay my personal respects. I found out after the fact. I will miss his smile.
