RUTH MARIE SUZANNA PLUMMER

RUTH MARIE SUZANNA PLUMMER, 95, passed peacefully in the presence of her loved ones on Thursday, Jan. 14, 2016, at Renaissance Village in Fort Wayne. Born in Fort Wayne, Ruth graduated from Concordia High School as the class Valedictorian. She was a long time member of First Christian Church, where she sang in the church choir and played piano for the Progressive Sunday School class, led by her husband Earl. She was a uniquely accomplished musician and demonstrated so much natural talent that she was given the key to her Lutheran congregations' church organ when she was only 16. She taught piano and regularly entertained family and friends with her lilting piano and organ melodies. She was well known for her green thumb and love of nature. Her beautiful little home and gardens were a bright inspiration to all. She enjoyed planning annual family camping travel adventures to state and national parks throughout the U.S. and Canada. Surviving are her son, James Wesley Plummer of Manistee, Mich.; daughter, Janet Louise Brodie of Marietta, Ga.; grandchildren, Christopher Ryan (Jennifer) Brodie of Durham, N.C., Shawna Marie (Chris) Brodie-Butson of Marietta, Ga. and Nicole Suzanne (Brad) Norman of Marietta, Ga.; five great-grandchildren, Alex, Aidan, Caroline, Aubrey and Kyle; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, Arthur Christian Saalfrank and Beulah Katherine Saalfrank; husband, Earl Arnold Plummer; brothers, Kenneth W. Saalfrank and Howard C. Saalfrank; and sister, Lois A. Kokosa. Service is 2 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 20, 2016, at D.O. McComb & Sons Foster Park Funeral Home, 6301 Fairfield Avenue with calling one hour prior. The Rev. Julie Western officiating. Calling also from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 19, 2016, at the funeral home. Burial in Elm Grove Cemetery, Bluffton, Ind.
