SARA BULL Obituary

SARA "SALLY" ANN BULL, died on Thursday, March 31, 2022, at her retirement home in Braden ton, Fla. Born in Muncie, Ind., on April 24, 1943, she was the daughter of Harold Bull and Anna Marie (Yates) Bull. She graduated from Burris High School in Muncie, Ind., where she later taught, and lived for 25 years in Fort Wayne. It was in Fort Wayne that she met her husband Richard Dutton at a Lenten dinner held at the First Presbyterian Church. Dick and Sally were married in Granby, Colo., in 1998. Dick predeceased her in October of 2021. Following high school Sally graduated from Indiana University with Bachelor's and Master's degrees and embarked on careers in elementary education, following in her mother's footsteps, and data processing. She had a lifelong desire for learning new and different skills, and acquired Chartered Life Underwriters and Financial Consultant designations and followed her father in the insurance industry. "It's never too late" was her life motto. In her fifties she received a calling to attend Louisville Presbyterian Seminary. It was her Masters of Divinity and ordination as a Presbyterian minister that was her proudest accomplishment. She was a very caring person who listened to others with an open heart. Sally served in churches in Ohio and Florida, before retiring to Fort Myers and finally in Bradenton, at Westminster Village. Sally and Dick worked for Habitat for Humanity, and enjoyed reading and craftwork. Sally is survived by her brother, George Bull (Faye Mark); and niece, Katherine Bull. She is also survived by her husband Dick's children, Kenneth (Deborah) Dutton, Wendy Dutton and Amy Dutton (Brooks Murphy); grandchildren, Heather Dutton (Jorge Vargas), Caleb (Carla) Dutton, Mitchell (Lisa) Dutton, Molly (Nick) Hockin, Jesse Dutton-Kenny, Forrest Roberts, Graham Roberts, Ford Murphy, Elle Murphy, and Kate Murphy; and five great-grandchildren, Theodore Dutton, Calvin Dutton, Hazel Dutton, Wyatt Vargas, and Cecelia Dutton. She was preceded in death by an infant nephew; and a young adult niece, Ella Bull. A Service of Witness to the Resurrection and a Committal is 3 p.m. Saturday, May 7, 2022, in the Memorial Garden at Peace Presbyterian Church, 12705 St. Rd. 64 E, Lakewood Ranch (FL 34202). In lieu of flowers, the family would appreciate memorial donations be made to donor's local food bank.

I will always think of her as "Miss Bull". She was my 1st and 2nd grade teacher at Burris school. I can't imagine a better teacher than her. One of the sweetest, kindest people I've ever known. I was a painfully shy little girl, but she made me feel seen. One of my most cherished memories was when she sat down at the piano with me and wrote out the notes and words of a little song I wrote about a bluejay. I got to meet up with her again, maybe 20 years later. I hadn't realized what an impact she had made on my life. It was amazing to see that we shared many of the same values. I have no doubt that she had a major part in shaping my life for the better.
