Shirley, my very dear sister. She went to a better place the day she and my brother Roger were scheduled to leave CA by train to come to WA for my son Roger Smith's wedding. I do so miss her and think of her daily. Joyce Ann Davis--you so tickled my insides over the new back flip remark. That would be the double back flip which I taught her. She was 2 years older than me and we always had SO much fun together, growing up.

Shirley, I miss you everyday. I talk to your picture. Miss our car rides and our ice cream runs. You were a true good friend and neighbor, and I will never ever forget you. xxxooo Love Mary O'Dell Apt. 204

What a character! My first introduction to Miss Shirley was when she and her friend Joni came into my bookstore and Shirley wanted to know if I would like to see the new back flip she just perfected. I saw those two just pull up to my shop in their wheelchairs and all I could think was "Holy Smokes, I don't have insurance to cover this" Shirley proceeded to strut around my shop stretching her arms and doing waist bends and I was diligently trying to shoo them out the door. NO GO they got such a kick out of seeing me get all worked up they couldn't help the laughter from bubbling out. They got me then and many times after that. I will miss the smile.

Shirley was my very best friend and neighbor, here in Atascadero, CA Hardly a day went by we didn't see or hear from each other. Watch favorite TV shows together via phone i.e. The Voice, AGT, was fun. She tried to get me hooked on her favorite streaming show "McLeod's Daughters" ;) We also Traveled with our Motorized Wheelchairs, on local buses for shopping, out to eat etc. I miss her so much, but I know she is with Jesus and no more hurting and at peace. Love you Shirley, my BFF.

How fortunate are we who could call Shirley friend. And what greater friend than one who defends the rights of all, yet loves all, cherishes all, goes beyond in all.

My very special thanks to Shirley for being a beautiful cousin to me. She has been a loyal sister and special blessing for Roger. Shirley, you made the world a better place, your loving cousin.
