I knew Stella from Lutheran Social servicesday care. At the time I came to be the director I was the only white person on staff. Ms. Stell pulled up a chair next to me on my first day and welcomed me by saying"far as I know we are all the same and your color don't make no difference...as long as you have goodness in your heart." We hit it off just fine for three years (the whole time I worked there.) She even "snuck" me into the hospital when her dear Claude was so sick, the nurse said Family only and miss Stella said she is family she is my daughter. The nurse looked puzzled but she let me go in. I was also lucky to be invited to her and Claud's 50th wedding celebration at the church. She was a wonderful friend and a real christian lady. Heaven has gained an angel and miss Stell will keep things organized up there. MY prayers to the family.

Many thoughts and prayers for Reuben and his children (who went to Zion Lutheran School with my children; Asia and Michael, Jr.). I fondly called her "Jack" and still have a pendant and fox collar that she gave me about 15 years ago. She told me I needed to attach the fox to one of my coat collars to dress it up a bit. Because of her illness, she didn't remember me in the end, but I'll never forget her.
