THOMAS ALLEN "TOM" ARMSTRONG

THOMAS "TOM" ALLEN ARMSTRONG, 80, of Fort Wayne, Ind., passed away peacefully on Wednesday, Aug. 2, 2023, in the presence of his wife and children. He was born in Fort Wayne, Ind. and was the son of the late Catherine and Frank Armstrong. Tom lived in Fort Wayne his entire life and graduated from Elmhurst High School. Tom retired from Dana Corporation after 37 years of service beginning as a Machine Operator to Day Foreman position. Tom enjoyed hunting, football, NASCAR and tending to his lake cottage in Colon, Mich. He had a talent for home improvement projects and designed and constructed his own renovations to their home and lake cottage. He liked to express his love for his family by acts of service and repairs. Tom was a kind man who loved to laugh and he enjoyed spending the bulk of his time with his family. He had a fondness for Dad jokes and he liked to nick-name his children and grandchildren. He is fondly remembered by his grandchildren as G-Pa. He is survived by his his wife of 58 years, Rosalind G Armstrong (Groman); daughters, Nicole L. Armstrong, Danielle M. Cardenas: grandchildren, Gabriella R. Cardenas, Thomas E. Cardenas, Noelle E. Cardenas: great-grandchildren, Nova Karnes, Sol Karnes; sister, Judy (Pete) Olevnik; and brother, Jack (Mary) Armstrong. Tom was preceded in death by his parents; sisters, Wanda White, Dorothy Walker, Ruth Boroff, Shirley Pattison, Pat McMasters, Catherine Justice; and brother, Ervin Armstrong. Mass of Christian Burial is 11 a.m. today, Aug. 11, 2023, at Queen of Angels Catholic Church, 1500 W. State Blvd., Fort Wayne (IN 46808), with prayers at 10 a.m. at C.M. Sloan and Sons Funeral Home, 1327 N. Wells St., Fort Wayne (IN 46808). Burial in Highland Park Cemetery. Preferred memorials to Queen of Angels Catholic Church or Parkview Home Health and Hospice.
