TONY COLE Obituary

TONY COLE, 22, passed away on Saturday, Feb. 26, 2011, at Methodist Hospital, Indianapolis, due to injuries sustained in a plane crash on Feb. 15, 2011. Born in Fort Wayne, he graduated from Snider High School in 2007. He had an Associate's Degree in Professional Flight from the college of Aviation Technology at Purdue University and was working on his Bachelor's in Science in Building Construction Management. He was a member of the Purdue Flight Team and Beta Theta Pi Fraternity. He was an Eagle Scout and a scholar athlete at Snider High School. His passion for life was a lesson for all and a gift passed on to others through organ donation at his death. He is survived by his parents, Mack and Janet Cole of Fort Wayne; sister, Betsy (Vince) Irizarry of St. Louis, Mo.; nephew, Ian Irizarry of St. Louis, Mo.; and many aunts, uncles and cousins. A Celebration of Life service is 3:30 p.m. Saturday, March 26, 2011, at Brookside Community Church, 6102 Evard Road. Memorial visitation is from 12 to 2:30 p.m. Saturday, March 26, 2011, at D.O. McComb & Sons Maplewood Park Funeral Home, 4017 Maplecrest Road. Those attending the visitation or service are requested to bring a written memory or story about Tony. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Boy Scouts - Anthony Wayne Area Council, Purdue Flight Team, Beta Theta Pi Fraternity at Purdue University, Snider High School Performing Arts, or Snider Football. I work at Purdue but did not know Tony. I watched, along with everyone here at Purdue, as the story of his accident unfolded. I can't begin to share the depths of your grief at the loss of a child but all of us share in the loss of a young person of his calibre. This world needs more like him.
