VELMA BUCHAN Obituary

VELMA B. BUCHAN, 86, died on Wednesday, March 21, 2018, in Minneapolis, Minn. Born on May 26, 1931 in Fort Wayne, Ind., she was a daughter of the late William and Velma McDon ald, and graduated from Central Catholic High School in 1949. Velma married Winfield Buchan on June 29, 1949. Velma and Win spent the majority of their married life in Hoagland, Ind., retiring to Bradenton, Fla. in 1992. Velma was an avid sewer, needlepointer, bridge player, and cook. Her laugh could fill a room and she made friends easily. Velma was outspoken and independent. She was not afraid to load the kids in the car and drive cross-country. While some were briefly left at various stops, the whole crew always made it back home. She is survived by sister, Ilene Winans (H. Charles) of Bradenton, Fla.; brother, William (Diana) of Naperville, Ill.; daughter, Kathleen (Vincent) Moccio of Minneapolis, Minn.; sons, Bruce (Christina) of Fort Wayne and Daniel (Luanne) of Decatur, Ind.; grandchildren, Joe, Clif, Brent, Ned, Nan, Jay, Vincent, Wayne, and Andrew; as well as seven great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Winfield, daughter, Carolyn, and brother, Anthony. Mass of Christian Burial is 10:30 a.m. Thursday, April 5, 2018, at Saint Jude Catholic Church, 2130 Pemberton Drive, Fort Wayne, with a visitation one hour prior. Visitation also from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. Wednesday, April 4, 2018, at Divine Mercy Funeral Home, 3500 Lake Avenue, Fort Wayne. Burial will be in Catholic Cemetery, Fort Wayne.
