I met Stan while playing in a praise band at the Rescue Mission in Fort Wayne. We became instant musical buddies before the first song was over, LOL! Later on we became close friends through the fellowship of AA and our mutual belief in Jesus.
Stan was a fantastic, sensitive and inspiring musician. His ability to effortlessly add just the right tasty bits to a song was legendary. I asked him once, how do you do it? His response was simple and true "practice your but off". I believe that his musicianship came from somewhere beyond just practice.
For me, he was the living example of how redemption, grace, love and mercy can change us when we least expect it. Stan and I both have intimate knowledge of how that works. I think that sharing our mutual experience, strength and hope with each other cemented our friendship like nothing else can.
My friend Stan and I joked that we were brothers from other mothers.
I am grateful to have been able to share some life with him. I'm sure that his tasty musical bits will play forever in my heart. Now you get to play with all the other greats!
Thanks for being an inspiring friend. I miss you man.

I knew Stan from school. He was a sweet, kind man. He square danced with my patents and was fun to be around. He recently sent me words of encouragement and comfort during my surgery in December, even as he himself was recovering from his own surgery. He was so happy to find love again with Carol. I will miss talking with him. He was cared for and loved and will be deeply missed. My condolences to Carol and his entire family.
