Dear Family,

I worked closely with Tom at Navistar in the early 1990's. What amazed me most was his knowledge of electrical engineering. He taught me a lot and was a pleasure to work with. I know he is missed by all who knew him. My deepest sympathies.

I am wearing your wedding ring, and although it nearly falls off my hand, it feels just right.

I miss you, dad.

I thought it would be so much easier than this. I see tragedy every day and think nothing of it. So much has changed.

I interviewed with Tom back in 1988 when I was hired at Navistar fresh out of college. Tom was one of my mentors and he helped me start my career working with trucks and electrical systems. During the past 21 years I worked with Tom on many projects and Tom had a special gift for solving problems and making the work fun and successful.

I will always have the great memories of Tom both at work and our occasional golf outings. We played golf together several times and I got to know Tom on a personal level. We talked about our families and I appreciated that he was willing to do this. I'll miss Tom for selfish reasons of not being able to do these things again with him. But I'm also thankful that I had the chance to know Tom and have him as a friend.

Pappa its hitting me harder and harder. I am very sad that your gone now. I want you back on your couch watching the news. I know your in heaven peaceful as ever... but I want my pappa back... on your couch right where you belong!

I want you to answer the telephone saying " Who is this? " when i call the house phone to ask mamma something.

I want you to come into the kitchen when i visit and drink your chocolate milk while observing me and yelling at me to stick my tounge back into my mouth.
I miss you so much pappa.

Dad,
It hurts to know that you are gone. I am so sad to know that I will never be able to see that frown-smile of yours.
I want to tell the world how wonderful you were. You never complained, never let us worry about life's struggles, and always protected us. You were a perfect Pappa! Your tractor rides will be missed dearly.
I never was able to tell you until our final days together how much I idolized you. It was your ingenuity that I will never forget. How little did I know that so many others felt the same way; your retirement party showed it.
Thank you for teaching me my algebra in high school, for arguing about calculus problems, for making me fix my own car. Go fix that squeak on the gates of heaven.
I love you, Dad.

I worked for Tom at Navistar back in the 1987, 1988 timeframe and we even share a Patent together. I ALWAYS enjoyed working and talking with Tom. He was a very special man. The last time we chatted was at the Navistar Children's Christmas part, last winter.
Obviously he will be missed by many people.

I'm so sorry for the pain everyone is feeling right now...but remember that the timing of everything that we talked about, Carol, is something that wasn't just a coincidence! Uncle Tom is at peace and is now a guardian angel to all of his children/grandchildren, and especially to the newest addition to your family that needs his guidance the most! Watch how the new little one will grow and you will know why!! God Bless!! Tiffani

Dad....
Words cannot say how much I love you and miss you already! I will never forget how you would "count on partner" during our euchre games! I will miss playing euchre with you! You taught us how to have the highest integrity just by being the man you were! For those who did not know my dad...he was very special! A character no words can describe! I always think of you when I try and make decisions at work. I could go on and on about the wonderful memories you gave us to include the silly things right up to the end in the hospital and at home. But most of all dad...thanks for allowing us to experience the peaceful way you left this world and went to heaven! You were so strong and ensured we were all here for you and mom and I will never ever ever forget that! At this time...I am waving to you in heaven and I know you are waving back...I always loved the way you waved!

I love you and miss you!

Pappa. We will all miss you dearly.

* I will miss your dry sense of humor... You always did know how to make all of us laugh.

*ill never forget the time you said i would get fat from eating pickles and said that I had a fat face

*I will never have a single christmas without hearing you sing "its beginning to look a lot like christmas."

* I will miss hearing the " OH NO!" Whenever i walk into the door of your house.

Your great grandson will grow up and hear many great memories. Even though you didnt get to see him he will hear lots about you. He will grow up loving you just as much as any of us grandkids. Thanks for watching over him pappa.
