WILLIAM A. "BILL" JUNK, 89, formerly of Fort Wayne, passed away peacefully on Thursday, Dec. 12, 2013, in Sun City Center, Fla. after a long illness. Bill was a Navy veteran and served with the Merchant Marines as a signal man shortly after Pearl Harbor. Bill owned Roberts Truck Rental on Clinton Street for 40 years. His favorite past-times were playing racquetball with good friends at the Y.M.C.A. and spending time at Crooked Lake with his family. Bill had a wonderful sense of humor, his laugh was contagious, and he loved making humorous comments to everyone. Bill is survived by his five children, Michael (Cheryl) Junk of Livonia, Mich., Sally (Chris) Jones of Alexandria, Va., Vicki (Ted Wright) Junk-Wright of Fort Wayne, Timothy Junk of Indianapolis, and Rosemary (Jerry) Brown of Fort Wayne; his current wife, Shirley (McLeod) Junk of Hamilton, Ontario Canada; nine grandchildren; and 13 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his loving wife of 54 years, Mary Jane (Nichter) Junk. A celebration of Bill's life will be held in his honor by his family. The family requests memorial gifts be directed to the Greater Fort Wayne Y.M.C.A., 347 W. Berry St., Suite 500, Fort Wayne, IN 46802.

We were very sorry to hear of Bill's passing. We were part of the "pool gang" at Sun City Center, and always enjoyed Bill's humor and even a few Ray's ball games. We will miss his smile, as do you.

So many great childhood memories of great times at Crooked Lake and all of the fun we all had! He always provided a drum of gas for the ski boats. A wonderful man! He sure enjoyed my parents, Jean & Lloyd.

To all my "Crooked Lake" friends I wish to send out my sincerest condolences in the passing of your Dad. Some of my fondest life memories was with the "Junk" family. I can see him smiling on the "William and Mary" as I type. My heart goes out to you all.

Sorry to hear about your dad. You have my condolences.

I used to enjoy having lunch with Bill, Chris, Pete Refakis, Jack Castator, and Herb Kloer (my dad) at Hall's Gas House when I was working for my dad in the summer. Sometimes your mom would come and meet with your dad.

I am sure that Bill is in a better place.
