ZANE D. UNVERZAGT

ZANE D. UNVERZAGT, 35, of rural Columbia City, died Saturday, April 7, 2018, in a motorcycle accident on Raber Road in Whitley County. He was born April 8, 1982, in Fort Wayne, a son of Glenn Alan and Kitrina Louise (LaFever) Unverzagt. His formative years were spent in Etna-Troy Township, Whitley County. He graduated from Columbia City High School in 2000. He was a Combat veteran, serving two tours in Afghanistan as a member of the U.S. Army reserve. He then attended ITT Technical Institute where he received an Associate degree in graphic design. Currently he was employed by Excel in Columbia City in their warehouse operation. Previously he had worked for Thompson's Tree Service in Clarksville, Tenn. As a multitalented individual he enjoyed writing and drawing in addition to practicing his 3d animation. He loved riding his motorcycle and was a devoted member of the Jingoes Motorcycle Club. Surviving are his two daughters, Lily and Naomi Unverzagt of New Jersey; his parents, Glenn A. and Kitrina L. Unverzagt of Columbia City; a brother, Collin C. (Anneliese) Unverzagt of Virginia. and a grandmother, Betty J. LaFever. He was preceded in death by a brother, Ross A. Unverzagt; his paternal grandparents, Daniel and Rosalin Unverzagt and his maternal grandfather, Neil F. LaFever. Funeral service is 2 p.m. Saturday, April 14, 2018, at Smith & Sons Funeral Home, Columbia City. Visitation is from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Friday, April 13, 2018, at the funeral home.
