Arthur Smart Obituary
He was born Sept. 7, 1931 in Dover, N.H., the son of the late John and Marion (Morse) Smart. Arthur grew up in Dover and has lived in Rochester since 1970. He was retired U.S. Air Force and also worked in public safety at U.N.H. in Durham, N.H. He was an avid golfer at Rochester Country Club.
Members of his family include his loving wife of 67 years, Jeanne (Dow) Smart; son, Douglas Smart and wife Linda of Dover: daughters, Dennise Smart and spouse Debbi Lunde-Glidden of Rochester, Dianne Reecer and husband Roy of Alabama, Deborah Smart of Canaan, N.H.; grandchildren, Christopher, Jennifer, Amanda, Jeremy, Carrie, Jack and two great grandchildren.
A private burial will be in the NH Veterans Cemetery, Boscawen, N.H. with military honors.
Arrangements are under the care of the R.M. Edgerly & Son Funeral Home, 86 South Main Street. Rochester, NH.
In lieu of flowers donations in his memory may be made to NH Veterans Cemetery Association, P.O. Box 626, Concord, NH 03302-0626 or the Hyder Family Hospice House, 285 County Farm Road, Dover, NH 03820.

There isn't a day that goes by when we are all teeing it up at RCC that this great gentlemen's name is not mentioned. Doug it is always a treat to talk about your Dad and here the many stories. He is missed but definitely not forgotten.

So sorry to hear of Art's passing - my condolences to the family. I knew Art from UNH and even sat in on a couple of his safety classes. What he taught is still in my mind today when I drive. RIP

Jeanne, What wonderful memories of being neighbors while living
at Sidi Slimane AFB, Morocco, Africa. This great man, husband and
father is not gone - just in another place and I know a peaceful place. Sorry we lost touch when we returned to the USA.

Dear Doug and Family,
Please know that Arthur (Husband, Father, and Friend) will be missed by many. He was great man and we all enjoyed seeing him at Rochester Country Club. He left all of us with great memories.
You all are in our thoughts and prayers. God Bless all of your during this difficult time. I am sure there are many great memories that will be cherished.

Arthur was a wonderful, kind, fun neighbor when we lived next door to him on Lincoln St. We have many fun stories that we repeat to each other. Our condolences to Jean and the family.

Art was a special person and special friend. I remember when we both hit our tee shot to the 12 green where two young pups were watching and we just looked at each other and laughed. I am better for having known Art. My sincere condolences to Jeanne, Doug and all Art's family and friends.
