Bertha Short Obituary

SOMERSWORTH — Bertha Short, 74, of 16 Park view Terrace, died Friday April 9, 2010, at the Dover Rehabilitation and Living Center in Dover after a period of declining health.

Bertha was born in Somersworth on September 3, 1935, and was the daughter of Edward and Hattie (Jenness) Short. She was raised in Somersworth and attended schools in this community.

She had been a resident of this community all of her life, making her home on Clement Road up until nine years ago.

Before retirement, Bertha had been employed as a payroll secretary with Somersworth Wood Heal and eventually retired in that capacity with FEDCO Tank and Equipment.

She enjoyed the outdoors and feeding the birds. She was also active for some time with the Somersworth Bowling League.

Family members include her daughter, Elizabeth "Betty" Perreault, and her husband, Marty, both of Rochester and her son Edward Short of Virginia; and several nephews, nieces and cousins.

She was predeceased by her brother Edward Short and by her sisters Nellie Dumont, Alice Short and Edith Tibbetts.

Friends and family may call on Wednesday evening from 6 to 9 p.m. in the Bernier Gelinas Funeral Home, 49 South St., Somersworth. Funeral Services will be held in the funeral home on Thursday at 11 a.m. with Rev. Mark Rideout. Burial will be in the family lot in Forest Glade Cemetery, Somersworth.

The family request that memorial contributions be made to the Cocheco Valley Humane Society 262 County Farm Road Dover, New Hampshire 03820. folders are available at the funeral home.

Betty & Marty,
We are so sorry to hear about your Mom. We both worked with her at Fedco and she was one "hot" ticket. Bertha had a heart of gold and would do anything for you. I remember picking her up for work when it would snow because she would not drive in it! She will be missed by all who knew her.
