David DeVoll Obituary
Born the son of the late, Dorothy (Jones) Plante and Millard DeVoll, in Norridgewock, Maine on Jan. 24, 1937.
David graduated from Berwick High School and worked for a short time for Prime Tanning before becoming an employee of General Electric in Somersworth, where he worked until his retirement after 33 years of service. He served in the National Guard Reserve of Somersworth for ten years.
David was given the uncanny ability to improvise and build anything that struck him as challenging and useful. His devotion to family and friends was unwavering and deeply rooted. He was a man of simple virtues, loyalty to self and a dry (very dry) and witty sense of humor. His dedication to Noble Wrestling was a devotion rather than a hobby. Hundreds of wrestlers will hear the echoes of his voice of encouragement for many years to come. Given his many health issues, he was ever grateful for his life and family.
David was predeceased by a son, Staff Sergeant Chad DeVoll, in 1996, and by a half-brother, Millard "Bill" DeVoll.
He is survived by his loving wife of 52 years, Carole (Chabot) DeVoll; and his two sons, Kip, and his wife, Regina DeVoll, of Lebanon, Maine, Tod, and his wife, Paula, of Shapleigh, Maine; his 2 daughters, Sherry, and husband, Scott Sievers, of Richland, Iowa, and Carrie DeVoll, also of Richland, Iowa. Dave is also survived by his sister, Mary, and husband, Lewis Davis, of N.J.; his sister, Penny, and husband, Martin Parent, of Berwick, Maine; his half-brothers, Dennis, and his wife, Gwen Plante, Bruce Plante and fiance, Cheryl Saucier, of Berwick; half-sister, Dorothy, and husband, Steve Rowe, of Farmington; half-brothers, John DeVoll, and wife, Diane, and James DeVoll, all of Calif. He is also survived by fifteen grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
Calling hours will be on Thursday, Nov. 10, 2011, from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m., followed by a Funeral Service at 12 p.m. at Laing-Bibber Funeral Chapel, 36 Rochester St., Berwick, Maine. Burial will follow in Evergreen Cemetery, Berwick, Maine.

To Carol and family, I am so saddened hearing about David's death. David and I spent many years at GE, and worked on the same machines for many years. David was a great worker and friend and taught me everything that there was to know about high speed presses. David was a take charge kind of guy, and was always there when he was needed. He will be surely missed.
