David Raymond Smith

KITTERY, Maine - David Raymond Smith (Smitty), 53, of Kittery died suddenly of natural causes, on July 5, 2013.

He was born in Portsmouth on April 13, 1960 and was the son of Raymond A. and Nancy (Davis) Smith of Kittery, Maine.

A 1978 graduate of Traip Academy, David was an avid sports fan having played on the football and wrestling teams as well as in the band. Dave completed the Apprenticeship Program and worked at the Portsmouth Naval Shipyard as a pipe fitter for most of his career. He was a member of the Maine Players (Corner Pub) Dart Team for many years and a devoted New England sports fan. He enjoyed reading, music, and visiting the camp at Lake St. George.

He is survived by his mother, his daughters: Melissa (Mrs. Aaron) Bertrand, Amanda (Mrs. Chris) Prouse, and his sons Bryon Smith and Stephen Smith all of Florida; his brother, Jeffrey Smith and wife, Sarah of Kingston; his sisters Cheryl Sanborn of Strafford, Vicki (Mrs. David) Wentworth and Teresa Smith, both of Kittery; his four grandchildren Colin and Gavin Bertrand, Dustin and Jace Prouse, and several nieces and nephews. In addition to his father, David was predeceased by his grandchildren Christian and Nicholas Prouse.

Visiting hours are Sunday, July 14th, from 6-8 p.m. at the JS Pelkey Funeral Home 125 Old Post Rd. Kittery and a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Monday, July 15th, at 11 a.m. in St. Raphael's Church, Kittery. David will be laid to rest in Brooks Memorial Park, Eliot.

Family flowers only, please. Contributions may be made, in David's name, to the charity of one's choice.
