Gladys Wentworth Obituary

ALTON — Gladys (Willis) Wentworth, 83, of Clark Road, peacefully went to be with the Lord on Dec. 21, 2009. Gladys was the daughter of Perley and Alice (Douquette) Willis.

She was born Oct. 25, 1926, and was predeceased by her older sister, Noreen. Gladys was an amazing swimmer. They couldn't keep her out of the water. She was a lover of music and an incredible cook.

In 1942, she married the love of her life, Philip A. Wentworth. They spent the next 68 years happily together. They had four children together, three sons and one daughter, Laurence Wentworth of California, Stanton Wentworth and his wife, Roxanne, of Errol, N.H., Jeannette Countryman of Oahu, Hawaii and was predeceased by her youngest son, Brian Wentworth.

Gladys was a wonderful mother, devoted to her children, always being a part of their happiness. She was a devoted Catholic. Gladys loved her flower gardens and she loved spending time outdoors enjoying the morning sun with the love of her life, Philip. She was an incredibly devoted grandmother, taking part in raising not only her children, but her grandchildren as well. We will always feel the warmth of Gram's love when the morning sun hits our face. We love you Gram.

She leaves behind 10 grandchildren: Michael, Philip, Gina, Rhonda, Melanie, Keith, Kerry, Alexander, Leon, and Maleia, as well as 11 great-grandchildren. Gladys's family would like to thank the wonderful staff at Lakes Region General Hospital, Laconia, and the skilled nursing at Wolfeboro Bay Care and Rehabilitation, Wolfeboro, for the great care she received.

Lord Funeral Home, Wolfeboro, NH assisted the family with arrangements.

To the Wentworth family. I am so sorry for your loss. I haven't seen any of you for years, but I still have many memories of the Wentworth home on Bunker Street. May all your memories help you through this time.

To the Wentworth family- I hadn't seen Phil and Gladys for a long time, but my mom and dad and I spent alot of time at their home in Alton when I was young. My dad and Phil, I believe, worked together in the shoe shop many yrs ago. They were such good people to us. My prayers and thoughts for your family at this difficult time.

Hey Gladys,
I can still hear you say when I asked you how are you doing and you respond "I'm here full of bully!" We miss you dearly. We hope that you are resting now in the special place in heaven.I can still hear you singing to me the special song we always sang each night when I came to visit you, "You are my sunshine". Each day when the sunshine's I will know that you are looking down and smiling at us.
We miss you very much and I WILL look after Phillip for you, as we always do.
Love, Craig, Lisa,Courtney,Jimmy and Rebecca Goodwin
