Harris McGlone Obituary

DOVER – Harris T. McGlone died Sunday, December 27, 2015, at the age of 77 after a 15 year courageous battle with multiple myeloma.

He was a graduate of Dover High School Class of 1958. Shortly after high school, he proudly joined the US Air Force and served 20 years, retiring as a master sergeant working as a computations technician. His whole military career was spent serving in many places around the world. His job included processing mathematical data collected from airplanes and satellites in later years. This data was used by the government in map making.

He served in Vietnam in 1968 and spent a total of 34 years in the same profession with the last 14 years serving at his home base Ft. Warren AFB, Cheyenne, Wyoming.

When he retired in 1994, he moved back to Dover to spend the rest of his life with his large family.

Harris is survived by his siblings Arthur McGlone and his wife Dorothy of Dover, Helen Forbes of Somersworth, Shirley Gowen and her husband William of Dover, Barbara McGlone of Dover, John McGlone and his wife Caroline of Dover, Janice Becker of Dover, Mary Dahl of Amelia Island, Fla., and many nieces and nephews who loved him dearly.

He also leaves behind his beloved cat Mr. Buttons.

SERVICES: A calling hour will be Tuesday, January 5, 2015, from Noon to 1 p.m., with a funeral service to follow at 1 p.m. Burial will be in St. Mary Cemetery in Dover.

Donations in Harris's memory can be made to Amy's Treat P.O. Box 2234 Dover, N.H., 03821 Amystreat.org.

HT was a good friend and I still think of HT often. Miss his sense of humor and miss our conversations about the Geodetic Survey Squadron.

Just today I read about the passing of HT and my heart is heavy with the loss. He was one of the few truly good men I have ever had the honor of knowing. I have endless memories of his humor and what a great friend he was. My heart goes out to his family.

HT was a good friend to me during my time being stationed at F.E. Warren AFB. HT and I logged many miles running on the parade field at F.E. Warren AFB during the noon hour. I'm very saddened to hear about HT and I will miss him dearly. I know that he was happy to be with his family in New Hampshire after he retired from the Geodetic Survey Group. God Bless you and your family.
