We always looked forward to our appointments with Jess - he expressed such interest in our lives. We had long chats about hikes in Utah, camping, children, etc., etc. He was far and away the most personable Dr we have ever had. I always left feeling better than when I arrived.
Sending deepest sympathy-

I truly enjoyed my annual eye exam with Jess. He insisted I call him Jess, rather than Dr. Lewis, and he always asked about my family, also patients of his, and made me feel as if I were one of his favorite patients. I've no doubt he exuded the same charm to each patient he saw.

He was always upbeat and funny and obviously devoted to his family whom we talked about frequently. It broke my heart when he lost his wife, and I take comfort in knowing they are together again.

To his family, I send my deepest condolences and pray you will remember your dad and grandfather with a smile. I'm certain there are endless memories of wonderful shenanigans with this gentle giant who always had a twinkle of mischief in his eyes.

To his colleagues, I share your grief and know we will all miss his big smile, gentle nature, and true love of life.

Remembering Jess fondly,
Sandy Larned

I first met Dr. Lewis in 1983 I was 16 and getting my first contacts. Since that day he was my Dr. and a friend. During my visits we talk about what we had been up to, we would laugh and sometimes even cry together. for the last 30+ years he would always enter the examine room and say
"PEGGY, YOU'VE GOTTEN PRETTIER AND I'VE GOTTON FATTER" ( even if it wasn't true). During one of my exams about 7 years ago I told him I was going to Disney world. He said that was his and Eileen's favorite please to go . they especially enjoyed standing on the bridge at Epcot . Eileen had told him that someday they would meet again on that bridge. I'm sure it was a beautiful reunion last weekend in Epcot.

Farewell to one of the BEST. You will never know how much you will be missed.

This man was always such a warm kind presence.
I absolutely loved my visits with him throughout my teen years. Through my very first pair of contact lenses, and eventually to surgery leading to perfect vision.
I was legally blind in one eye, and due to the strain, was quickly losing vision in my "good" eye. He wrote a personal letter to my insurance company pleading with them to allow lasik corrective surgery as an alternative - that it should not be considered an elective surgery in this case. When this did not work, he worked to find other ways to get this done for me.
My parents both always had nothing but wonderful things to say about this man and his work.
I know this gentle soul will be missed greatly by those left behind.
I also know that this wonderful man is now at peace and has rejoined loved ones who passed before.

Doc Lewis was always a class act, he was a true gentalman. I always looked forward to our visit. I don't remember ever seeing anyone else for my vision. My heart is broken - Heaven will be a much better place with Jess Lewis and his smile and the joy he gave people. I look forward to seeing Doctor Lewis again when it's my turn.
