John Bakke Obituary
John will be remembered most by his endearing sense of humor. He was always able to lift the spirits of those around him, be they family, friends or patients.
Born May 9, 1932, in DeForest Wisc., the son of Rudolph and Lucille (Nelson) Bakke. He served in the Navy during the Korean War as an aerial photographer. John attended the University of Wisconsin and graduated from Palmer College of Chiropractic in 1957. He owned a private chiropractic business for 43 years and served several years as the President of the New Hampshire Chiropractic Association.
Chiropractic was a passion shared by John and much of his family. His son Erik, brothers Nels and Ken, nephews Gregg, David, Phil, and Danan, niece Meredith, and brother-in-law Fred were all practicing Chiropractors.
John was a member of the Exchange Club, the American Legion, Kiwanis International, and was the Chairman of the area Fund Drive for Radio Free Europe.
An avid golfer, John achieved 5 holes-in-one and 3 times shot his age or better on 18 holes. A long time member of Dover's Cochecho Country Club, he called Cypresswoods Country Club of Winter Haven, Fla. his second home.
He is predeceased by his parents, his brother Nelson Bakke and sister Nancy Schollenberger.
John is survived by his loving wife, Adele, who he was married to for 53 years. He is also survived by his three children and their families, Erik Bakke, DC of Dover, N.H., with his wife Jennifer (Keefe) and their son Aidan; Debra Hendrickson of Somersworth, N.H., with her husband Arthur and stepson Erik; Kimberly McHugh of Somersworth, N.H., with her husband Thomas and their children Courtney and Griffin.
SERVICES: Calling hours will be held on Sunday, April 17, 2016 from 1 to 4 p.m. at Tasker Funeral Home, located at 621 Central Ave, Dover NH. Dr. Bakke and Adele were so good to my mother when she lived next to the Bakke's in Rollinsford. He was such a warm and caring person. After my mom's passing, John and Adele bought my mother's old condo and it made me so happy to know the place was filled with love and happiness. Thoughts and prayers to the family, especially Adele as well as Kim & Eric whom I see at their office regularly. Please know there are many ready to help if anything is needed.

Mrs. Bakke, Erik, Deb, Kim and families - so sorry to hear of Mr. Bakke's passing. He was always so kind when all of us girls took over his house way back when. He would joke with us and I remember his warm smile and the sparkle in his eye. I am sure you all have many precious memories of your own, share them often they will help lift your spirits. To John's Family, our deepest sympathy and condolences. My wife and I were both John's patients. As a teenager, my brother Jude and myself helped John gather fieldstones for the fireplace on his place on Bonnie Beg Pond. He was such a caring and good man.
