Joshua Marshall Obituary

NOTTINGHAM — Joshua Thomas Marshall, 23, of 189 Old Turnpike Road, passed away on Wednesday, Jan. 6, 2010, at Maine Medical Center in Portland, Maine.

He was born on July 10, 1986, in Exeter, the son of Tom and Robin (Kidd) Marshall.

Josh attended school in Nottingham and graduated from Dover High School. He was employed by Green Acres Lawn and Landscape. Josh played basketball for Nottingham School, baseball for Nottingham Youth Association and hockey for Dover Youth Hockey. Josh had a heart of gold and would do anything for anyone at anytime and always with that smile. He enjoyed going camping, playing waffle ball, throwing shoes, shooting hoops and playing sport video games.

He is survived by his parents, Tom and Robin Marshall; his sister, Jessica and his brother, Jayson, all of Nottingham; his nephew, Brenden Curry; his grandmother, Carole Kidd of York, Maine; and many, many aunts, uncles, cousins, other family members and friends and the family pets, Bodie, Callie, Elvis and Izzy.

A gathering of family and friends for a celebration of life will be held on Sunday, Jan. 10, at 12:30 p.m., in the downstairs hall of the Purdy Memorial Chapel, Route 4, Lee, N.H. Josh was an avid New England sports fan; therefore, in his honor, we are gathering to watch the Patriot's playoff game wearing jeans and our favorite sports team attire. All are welcome to join us for food and beverages while we watch the Patriots play.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that any donations be made in Josh's name to either the Nottingham Youth Association (NYA), P. O. Box 98, Nottingham, NH 03290 or the Nottingham School Athletic Dept., 245 Stage Road, Nottingham, NH 03290.

Memories and Condolences
for Joshua Marshall

Not sure what to say?

February 10, 2010

Tom and Robin,
The empty space you feel with the loss of Josh will never be filled with any words, acts of kindness or material things. He was a living soul. His smile, his generousity and his willingness to help another person and expecting nothing in return was what defined him as "Josh". As parents we try the best we can to stear our kids in the right direction. We cannot control the paths that they take. Josh was a kind, gentle and sweet person and the family will never forget that. The memories are what will get us through this very sad, confusing and heartbreaking time. For in our memories we begin the healing process. Let us never forget what a wonderful, thoughtful, selfless and giving person that he was. May you both find the strength in each other and in our families to help your family through this most difficult time. Please call at any time you need to.
Love, Hal, Kris, Erika and Brian

Josh, thank you for always being there when I needed your help.I never asked for you to take down the entire Christmas tree and pack it up too. You did a super job cleaning up what you could in Erika's room. The scratch tickets won six dollars. I will miss your smile next to me when the snow covers the ground, but I will never forget it.
Love, Kris

Jessica and Jayson,
You have lost a special person, your brother Josh. You may have played games with him, or fought with him or looked up to him or swam in the pool with him or just watched a movie with him. Please never forget the memories you have had of Josh. The memories are what keeps Josh in our hearts and minds everyday.
Please stay close as a family to get all of you through this most difficult time.

Our Hearts Are Heavy With Sadness,

LOVE, HAL, KRIS, ERIKA and BRIAN

P.S. JOSH, Thank you for helping cleaning and organizing Erika's room.

I appriciate that you took down and packed up my x-mas decor for the tree this year.
Thank you so much for your help with snow shoveling ( or with keeping Brian happy retrieving his bottle or Pooh Bear )
YOU WILL BE MISSED JOSH , BUT NEVER FORGOTTEN LOVE ALL!!!!

Robin, Tom, Jess and Jayson. All of our family are having a difficult time accepting the fact that Josh is no longer with us. I think of him so often, remembering him watching television, playing ball out in the front yard with everyone, and bringing in packages from the car. He brought my containers of Christmas things down from upstairs. He was always so willing to help. We played many Uno games together and he always seemed to win, even if I had a good hand. When he was younger he could play a memory board game so well and would always win no matter who he played with. This New Years Eve he slept under my diningroom table because it was the only place not occupied. He always had a beautiful smile and rosey cheeks. Everyone loved him. He will always have a very special place in my heart. I love you all so very much and will always be there for you. Take care of each other. Love, Always, Mom

February 6, 2010

Robin, Tom, Jess and Jayson,
Words cannot express the sorrow and sadness we all are feeling. Please know that we will always be there for you. Now the memories of Josh bring sadness, but know that someday they will bring comfort and even smiles and laughter. He was such a quiet, sweet boy, always ready to lend a hand to help, never asking for anything in return. We will always remember playing Uno with Josh on New Year's Eve and the way he always managed to win most every game. Uno will never be the same. Bonnie, Jim, Miranda, Mallory, Adam and Abigail

Robin and Tom,
I just have so many wonderful thoughts and memories of Josh (too many to count). He spent a lot of time at our home when he was younger, visiting Nate and entertaining him.

Nate and I spent may days in your pool on hot summer days, as Josh would invite us over. Our hearts are broken, and we just cannot believe he is no longer here with us. He did always smile, and we will all certainly miss him.

You are all in our hearts and our prayers and please, if you need anything at all, call, come over. We are here for you.
