Katherine Abbott Obituary

HAMPTON — Katherine M. (Koop) Abbott, 99, of Hampton, and formerly of Portsmouth, died Wednesday, Aug. 31, 2011, at the Oceanside Skilled Nursing and Rehabilitation in Hampton.

She was born in Lunstead, Germany, on April 1, 1912, the daughter of the late Henry B. and Katherine M. (Kellmer) Koop.

Survivors include her son, Albert Abbott and his wife, Rita, of North Hampton; two granddaughters, Catherine and Lindsey Abbott; two great-grandchildren, Madison and Joshua Abbott; and several nieces and nephews.

Katherine was predeceased by her husband, Harold W. Abbott.

A funeral service will be held at 1 p.m. on Friday, Sept. 2, at the J. Verne Wood Funeral Home ¿ Buckminster Chapel, 84 Broad St., Portsmouth. Friends are invited. There will be no visiting hours.

Oh, my beautiful Auntie Kay, I will miss you so very, very much. I have loved you for forty-seven and a half years and will continue to do so until it's time for me to join you. You provided a secure and loving family environment in which my child was cared for and that meant the whole world to me. All my love to you and Uncle Harold too.

Dear Albert, Rita, and family,
So sorry to hear of Auntie Kay's passing. I have wonderful childhood memories of times with her on Silver Lake. She was the definition of a classy lady. We all loved her so very much, especially my mom who passed a little over a year ago. Lifelong friends who are now angels in heaven looking over us all. My prayers and thoughts are with you....
