Patricia Ann (Bailey) McLean

DOVER - Patricia Ann (Bailey) McLean passed away peacefully at Bellamy Fields Assisted Living in Dover, surrounded by her family and caregivers on June 7th after a long journey with Alzheimers, at the age of 83. Pat was born on March 12, 1930 in Salem, Mass., she was the daughter of William F. and Grace E (Murray) Bailey. She lived in Salem, Mass. for many years and in retirement spent her winters in Largo, Florida and summers in Limerick, Maine before moving to Bellamy Fields in 2009.

Pat graduated from Salem High School in 1947 and a year later she married James A. McLean with whom she shared almost 65 years of marriage. Patricia was a medical secretary working for Salem Hospital, Dr. Flynn and Dr. Olin Samson of Danvers, Mass. Pat also taught ceramics for more than 20 years and operated a bridal boutique until retiring to Largo, Florida where Pat and Jim lived for 20 years. Pat and Jim traveled extensively over the years to Bermuda, Aruba, Tahiti, Portugal and Canada but her favorite vacation spot was "the camp" in Limerick, Maine. She enjoyed the summers in Limerick where extended family would gather. Patricia led an active life enjoying her time with friends, organizing parties and playing Bingo. An avid reader, Pat enjoyed her trips to the bookstore with her grandsons and always had a book in her hand.

Patricia is survived by her husband of 65 years, James A. McLean; their children, David McLean and his wife, Susan of Rochester; Susan M. Ferguson of N.H.; Stephen A. McLean of Limerick, Maine; grandchildren, Andrew J. McLean of Gorham, Maine; Matthew M. McLean of Rochester; Edward A. Ferguson III of Swanton, Vt.; Patrick M. Ferguson of Lynn, Mass.; James S. McLean and Michael E. McLean of Limerick, Maine; Great-grandchildren, Harley J. McLean and Mackenzie J. McLean of Limerick, Maine; Edward A. (EJ) Ferguson IV of Swanton, Vt. She is also survived by her brother George Bailey and his wife Gloria of Peabody, Mass., daughter-in-law Monique C. McLean of Gonic, dear friends Dr. Olin and Lynne Samson and Eleanor Pietrini.

In addition to her parents, Pat was predeceased by her sister, Joan Barnes, her sister-in-law Barbara McLean and her dear friends Barbara J. Freeman, Claire Watson and Nancy Duguay.

The family wishes to extend heartfelt gratitude to the caregivers at Bellamy Fields who cared for Pat for almost four years. Everyone at Bellamy Fields became Pat's extended family and we thank you for the care and compassion you provided to Patricia and her family.

Family and friends are welcome to a funeral mass on Saturday, June 15, 2013 at 11 a.m. at the Parish of the Assumption St. Mary's Church, 25 Third St., Dover, N.H. 03820. Family members will receive friends and relatives following the mass in the parish hall. Private burial at the convenience of the family.
