Robert Hebert Obituary

SEBRING, Fla. - Robert H. Hebert, 78, passed away Saturday, May 13, 2017. The son of Phillip and Eleanor Hebert, Robert was born on February 12, 1939, in Waterbury, Conn. His family moved to the state he would call home for the next 55 years - New Hampshire - when he was 15.

Robert was a veteran of the U.S. Navy, and while on leave, met the love of his life. He was married to Lucille (née Fortier) Hebert for 58 years. After his military tour of duty, he served with distinction in the Somersworth Police Department for 12 years, helping to pilot their first ever utilization of Breathalyzer tests. Recognizing the demands of his growing family of six children, he switched professions and was employed by General Electric as a machinist for more than 26 years. After retirement, he served with the Strafford County Sheriff's Department.

Bob was a prominent member of the Knights of Columbus, earning the highest rank of District Deputy. Upon retirement to Florida, he pursued his lifelong dream of becoming a professional clown, graduating from Toby's Clown College. As a whiteface clown, he visited Hospital's and entertained people young and old. Never idle, he enjoyed motorcycles, fishing, sport shooting, Louis L 'Amour novels, and his Mi'kmaq heritage.

Members of his family include his loving and devoted wife Lucille Hebert and his children, Robert Hebert and partner Mary Edwards of Reidsville, Ga.; Roger Hebert and partner Michelle Ackerson of Middleton, N.H.; Raymond Hebert and wife Cindy of Rochester, N.H.; Janet Amroski and husband Peter of Russell, Penn.; Pamela Wentworth and husband Randy of Beaufort, S.C.; and Lucille Partridge and partner Rob Cook of Rochester, N.H. Thirteen grandchildren, twelve great grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews carry on his legacy. Bob was preceded in death by his only sister, Beverly Dube of Somersworth, N.H.

Memorial Mass was held at Our Lady of Grace Church in Avon Park, Florida on May 17, with a burial service to be held in New Hampshire at a later date.
