Robert Morrill Obituary

ACTON, Maine ; Robert E. Morrill, 55, of Hopper Road, known by many as Rob, Bob, or Bobby, died on April 25, 2009, at his home.

He was born in Rochester, N.H., on Sept. 9, 1953, a son of Fred and Eva (Meyer) Morrill Sr. and grew up in Milton Mills, N.H., attending the local schools. While in school, Bob was known to be quite the prankster. Even as a youngster, Bob knew the value of hard work. He worked a part-time job and always had a project going.

Bob was employed at Pratt and Whitney in North Berwick since 1980, working the second shift. In the last few years, Bob started taking care of several cemeteries and was very meticulous and took pride in each job he did. He was always two steps ahead of his competitor.

Bob loved his John Deere tractor and couldn't wait for each new spring to start it up. He was an avid outdoorsman who enjoyed hunting and fishing. His daughter Melissa shared how he would enthusiastically prepare for weeks in advance for each hunting season.

Bob liked playing cards and especially looked forward to Sunday afternoons playing cribbage with his Dad. He never missed an opportunity to go south to visit the reservation.

Bob had a great sense of humor, each day he lived his life with a smile on his face and with laughter in his voice.

Bob was a 32nd Degree Mason with the Unity Lodge # 62 in Union, N.H., and was a member of the Lafayette Club of Sanford for 29 years.

Bob was a kind and giving neighbor and friend. He was unselfish with his time and talents. He had a great sense of humor and never missed an opportunity to tell a funny story. Each day he lived his life with a smile on his face and with laughter in his voice. He especially enjoyed working with his elderly friends, making sure they had what the needed or wanted. Bob's life and presence among his family and friends will not be forgotten ; for Bob had that innate ability to give without any expectations in return.

Bob was a loving husband and father who loved and cherished his wife, Vickie. They had just returned from an exciting trip to Mexico where they both enjoyed making new friends and being able to relax in the warm sunshine.

He is lovingly survived by his wife of 22 years, Vickie (Bartlett) Morrill; his daughter, Melissa Norman and husband, Steven; his son, Ross Morrill; grandchildren, Meagan and Tyler; his father, Fred Morrill Sr.; his mother, Eva Morrill; his brothers, Fred Morrill Jr. and Mike Woodrow; many aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.

Bob was predeceased by his brother, Stuart; his mother-in-law, Norma McGuinness; and his special friend, Helen Roberts.

Friends are invited to call on Thursday, April 30, from 2-6 p.m. at the Autumn Green Funeral Home, 47 Oak Street, in Alfred. A funeral service will be held on Friday, May 1, at 11 a.m. at the Alfred Parish Church, 17 Kennebunk Road, Alfred, with Pastor Rick Leach officiating. Committal prayers and burial will be private.

Bob,
I knew you for two and a half years. I know not long enough but for the times that we laughed and joked and laughed and joked will never be forgotten. You touched my heart like a friend and an uncle. I could call upon you and you could call upon me. When the sun rises and goes down. When the thunder and lighting strike. When the snow falls and lakes freeze I will think of how you picked Milton Mills to meet me. I'm glad you did you were one of greatest unselfish Gentleman I have ever met.

Dear Robbie,
In this place, on this day
with tears and sorrow on display
We gather for a reason that's bittersweet
a thing called death we can't defeat
When we heard what happened we wept and cried
not that you're at peace, but the way you died
Your life wasn't over we know to our sorrow
you were supposed to come over for lunch just tomorrow
We are supposed to see you driving about town
and going to see that old lady you never let down
This wasn't the way you were supposed to leave
and we need you with us the days ahead as we grieve
Now you are gone, your body has perished
We'll always remember the good man we cherished
From your family who will fondly reminisce
You'll always be remembered and sadly missed...

We love you,
Colleen, Mike, Kimmie, Jessie, and Gale
