Seth Lasane Obituary

SOMERSWORTH ; Seth A. Lasane, 41, of Somersworth, passed away peacefully with his family at his side on Monday, March 30, 2009, at Riverside Rest Home in Dover, following a long and courageous battle with ALS (Lou Gehrig's Disease).

Seth was born in Bitberg Germany on May 29, 1967, the son of Alex Lasane Jr. and Caroline E. (Coles). He was raised and educated in Presque Isle, Maine, Dover and Somersworth, N.H., and had graduated from Somersworth High School, class of 1986.

Seth had worked for over 10 years in manufacturing at Simplex/TYCO Corporation in Newington.

Poem for Seth

Jehovah said " Who do I want in my tent as guest?"
what comes to mind is our friend Seth

A man faithful despite all the pain and sorrow,
because he always looked forward to a better tomorrow

And what was it that helped him cope?
It wasn't what was happening today but happening tomorrow it was the hope

That hope for a future the day of no pain,
Yes that was the hope of Seth LaSane

When he could run as a young steed,
Without the wheelchair to slow him down or impede

A time he could stand up, stand up tall,
A time when he would be looked up to by all

A time when all his pain and sickness will be a thing of the past,
Where joy and peace and life everlasting at last

And when we think of Seth and all his tribulation and trial,
All we can think of is that great big beautiful smile

Surely we hate to see you leave us and go,
But here's what we see for your future here's what we know

That when we see you again there will be no pain, sorrow, or strife,
That will be replaced with vim, vigor, and full of life

So dearest Seth rest for a while,
When you come back we'll recognize that smile

Now it's up to us to remain faithfull too,
So we can reap the blessings that's due

We can't wait to be together again,
when you'll be a big, strong, and healthy man

Dear Mr. and Mrs. Lasane,
I am very sorry to hear of Seth’s passing. Though I haven’t seen Seth for a number of years we went to Somersworth High together. He was a kind person who you must be very proud of. I was lucky to have known Seth.

April 6, 2009

I would invite all friends of Seth's to please share their memories of him so all can experience his great personality and outlook of how he viewed the world. Also, any pics of him during his skiing or monster truck days would also be a nice tribute to him.

Thank you,

Seth was one of the bright spots on my visits to Riverside with my dogs. He was always cheerful and good natured and fun to talk to. My dogs enjoyed snuggling with him as much as he seemed to enjoy their company. He will be missed.

I send my deepest sympathy to the Lasane family. Seth was not just a resident at Riverside he was a friend. Everyday the staff would walk in and by his room and say hi or stop and chat with him. We were always joking with him and I will never forget the smile he always had on his face. He had an amazing spirit, one I have never seen in someone that I have met. He was strong willed and had a big heart. He will be deeply missed by all. Again, my heart goes out to the Lasane family, and we were all lucky to have known Seth. Alex, Carol and friends,
Seth's outlook on life was one of not complaining and taking one day at a time. He always had that wonderful smile on his face whenever you were around him. He never complained to the staff who interacted with him on a daily basis.
His courage is found in his faith and family values that kept him stong. He was really part of our large adopted family here at Riverside and we will miss him dearly. His love of the outdoors was something he liked to share with everyone. Our condolences to you and remember you to are part of our family here at Riverside. Rest in peace my brother and friend until me meet again.

Sincerely,
D. Carlson and staff RRH U4

Mr.and Mrs. Lasane
I am so deeply sorry for your loss. Seth is one of the most amazing people I have ever met in my life. He has touched us all deep in our hearts. In the short time that I had the honor of being one of his caretakers, never did he complain or feel angry about his disease. I asked him how he was able to be so positive and strong and his reply was I the love of my family, friends and church and that anger or pity would not change anything. He is truly a inspiration to me. Seths million dollar smile will be imprinted in my mind forever. I will miss the great talks we had and seeing that smile every day. Seth was'nt like a resident to me he is someone I am proud to call my friend.

Goodbye my friend I know you'll always be smiling down on us.

I can say I was honored to have Seth in my life. You have my deepest sympathies to you on your loss. Seth worked for me years ago for CLU. He was one of the kindest and gentlest men I have ever met. A great worker and some one you were proud to say you knew. When I ran into you folks and Seth at a restaurant last year it was the first time I saw him in a wheel chair. He had no regrets while explaining to me about ALS and that he was cool with it. Then showed me the stacks of photos he had just got developed of him down hill skiing. WOW! He was a great human being. I am glad I got to know him.

Mr. and Mrs. Lesane,
How saddened I was to hear about Seth. There aren't many that I get to know here at RRH because I am not involved on the units everyday, but I can tell you that both You and your son are people that I took a liking too very very much. Wonderful sense of humor, great disposition and never a sad face. I loved seeing Seth sitting outdoors in the summertime in the sun, just taking it all in, one breath at a time. I am proud to say that I knew Seth as well has his parents and will remember him always. One of the memories that I think we will all remember forever here at RRH was seeing Seth and hearing his fantastic experience last year 2008 when he attended the Sox game. How proud he was to share his pictures, and just tell all what a fantastic time he had. I don't think his smile ever left his face.
