Alice Strohm Obituary

Alice Anne Strohm, 89, of Frederick, died Saturday, February 23, 2013 at Citizens Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, following a battle with cancer for more than 2 years.

Born March 20, 1923 in Greenville, Tennessee, she was the daughter of the late Jeremiah and Jettie Shephard Worthley. She was the wife of James C. Strohm, her husband of 66 years.

Mrs. Strohm was a member of St. Peter the Apostle Catholic Church, Libertytown, where she was active with the auxiliary and helping with bake sales and the thrift shop. She was also a member of Johnsville Senior Citizens. She was proud to have received her GED in 1977, at the age of 54.

She enjoyed traveling with her church and senior citizens groups, watching sports, was an avid reader, and above all else enjoyed spending time with family. She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, and great-great grandmother. Surviving, in addition to her husband, are daughters, Mary Anne Doody and husband, Paul of Union Bridge, Rita Dianne Strohm of Frederick, Gail Lucille Strohm of Woodbine, Theresa Joanne Strohm of Frederick; grandchildren, Paula Heinrich and husband Tim of Mt. Airy, Scott Doody and wife Dale of Union Bridge, Keith Doody and wife Laryssa of Thurmont, Mark Doody and wife Beth of Boonsboro, Rhonda Ann Gay and husband Mark David of Mt. Airy, Rhonda Marie Strohm of Frederick; great-grandchildren, Tim, Kayla, and Tyler Heinrich, Tara, Becky and Brandon Doody, Mason, Kaylie, Avery and Kendall Doody, Natasha Lynn Wetzel, Katrina Marie Wetzel, Thomas David Gay and Henry Matthew Gay; great-great-grandson, Nate Stonesifer; and numerous nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by a grandchild, Alicia Marlene Doody; and siblings, Beatrice Chapman, Charles Worthley, Wilma Johnson, Edward Worthley and Virginia Curtis.

A mass of Christian burial will be celebrated Friday, March 1, at 11 a.m. at St. Peter's Catholic Church, Libertytown. Father Jason Worley will be the celebrant. Interment will be in St. Peter's Cemetery. The family will receive friends at Hartzler Funeral Home, 11802 Liberty Rd., Libertyown on Thursday, February 28, from 6 to 9 p.m., where the rosary will be recited.

I can still remember Aunt Anne , standing in the kitchen ,making us peanut butter and jelly sandwiches,pouring kool-aide in the tin colored cups,she will missed dearly. I love you Aunt Anne!
