Charles Staley Obituary

Mr. Charles Jesse "Skip" Staley, 69, of 8109 Glendale Drive, Frederick, died Saturday morning, April 29, at his home.

He was the husband of Frances Everhart Staley, who died in 1994.

Born Nov. 23, 1930, in Frederick, he was a son of the late Charles Paul Staley and Letitia Brown Staley .

Mr. Staley served with the U.S. Air Force in Korea from 1951 until his discharge in 1954. He had served as police communications operator at Barrack B, Maryland State Police, Frederick, until his retirement in July 1987. He later served as police communications operator with the Carroll County Sheriff's Department.

He was a member of All Saints Episcopal Church; a civilian member of the Maryland Troopers Association Inc.; the Maryland Sheriff's Association; Philanthropic Lodge 168, A.F.&A. Masons, New Market; Ali Ghan Temple, A.A.O.N.M.S., Cumberland; Scottish Rite of Free Masonry, S.J., Baltimore; B.P.O. Elks 684, Frederick; AMVETS Post 2, Frederick, and Francis Scott Key Post 11, American Legion, Frederick.

Surviving are one daughter, Karen Elaine Talamini and husband Greg of Frederick; four sons, Robert Paul Staley of Salt Lake City, Utah, Charles Edward Staley and wife Jackie of Middletown, and Charles Paul Staley II and Michael James Staley, both of Frederick; one brother, Richard Paul Staley of Frederick; one sister, Ann B. Smith of Ijamsville; nine grandchildren, Justin Robert Staley, Kristin Rachelle Staley, Randi Denise Webb, Brian Randall Webb Jr., Tara D. Staley, Tyler B. Staley, Kristyn G. Staley, Derek Boyer and Whitney Boyer; and two great-grandchildren, Tyler Staley and Ashlynn Staley.

Mr. Staley will also be remembered by his friends Mike and Ila Stitely, Chez Stitely, and Millard Mastrino, all of Frederick, and Marion Shosted of Utah.

Mr. Staley was preceded in death by one brother, Robert Staley.

Friends may call from 5 to 9 p.m. Tuesday, May 2, at Keeney and Basford Funeral Home, 106 E. Church St., Frederick, where the family will receive friends from 6 to 9 p.m. Tuesday. Members of New Market Philanthropic Lodge 168, A.F.&A. Masons will hold memorial services at 8:30 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.

Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday, May 3, at the funeral home.

Interment will be in Mount Olivet Cemetery, Frederick.

Those desiring may send memorials to the Maryland Troopers Association, 1300 Reisterstown Road, Pikesville, Md. 21208.
