Charles Staley Obituary

Mr. Charles Irving Staley, 80, formerly of Frederick and Wilmington, N.C., died suddenly Wednesday, Nov. 5, at his home.

He was the husband of Alice Hoffman Staley. They were married for 55 years.

Born Nov. 25, 1922, in Frederick, he was a son of the late Irving E. and E. Grace Dorcus Staley.

He was a graduate of Gettysburg College, and a World War II veteran.

He was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars; and the Benevolent and Protective Order of the Elks.

Surviving in addition to his wife are three daughters, Patricia S. Ogletree and husband Bill of Cayce, S.C., Carol L. Staley of Roaring Gap, N.C., and Jacqueline Hooks and husband Ben of Wilmington; five granddaughters, Lauren Sickinger and husband David, Dagney Schiltz, Katherine Ogletree, Sarah Ogletree and Kristin Beck; and one brother, Joseph P. Staley and wife Diane of Hagerstown.

Friends may call from 9:30 a.m. until time of services at 10 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 8, at Keeney and Basford Funeral Home, 106 E. Church St., Frederick.

Interment will be in the Mount Olivet Cemetery, Frederick.

Memorial contributions may be made to the American Heart Association, Memorials and Tributes, P.O. Box 5216, Glen Allen, Va. 23058; or to the American Lung Association of Maryland Inc., 1840 York Road, Suite KM, Timonium, Md. 21093.
