Clara Crone

1927 - 2026

Clara Elizabeth Delauter Crone, 98, of Frederick, passed away on Sunday, February 1, 2026, at her home.

Born on October 7, 1937, in Frederick, she was the daughter of the late Roy Leslie Delauter and Gladys Regina Phelps Delauter. She was the wife of the late Glenn Elwood Crone, her husband of 64 years, who passed August 24, 2013.

Mrs. Crone was a life member of the Bush Creek Church of the Brethren in Monrovia, MD. In her later years she attended the Downsville Church of the Brethren in Hagerstown, MD.

Mrs. Crone enjoyed all outdoor activities; walking, hiking, and traveling. She also enjoyed playing bridge, having lunch, and shopping with friends. She was a longtime volunteer at Frederick Health Center, the American Red Cross, and Citizens Nursing Home.

Mrs. Crone is survived by daughter Glynda K. Fisher of Hagerstown, with whom she resided; son Mark Elwood Crone and wife Janie Christine of Frederick; grandchildren Cara Fisher Kidwiler and husband John W. of Keedysville, MD and Andrew Mills Crone of Reston, VA; great grandchildren Casi L. Axline-Kidwiler, Keegan Nevin Kidwiler and wife Sarah, Evan Glenn Crone, and Kaden George Kidwiler; great great grandson Myles Edward Rhodes; great great granddaughter Wyonna Ann Kidwiler; sister Delores J. Murphy of Frederick; brother Richard E. Delauter and wife Judith Dawn of Frederick; brother-in-law Lee E. Smith of Jefferson, MD; sister-in-law Ruby L. Delauter of Conway, SC; and many very special nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by son Jeffrey Alan Crone; sisters Gladys Marie Smith, Shirley Regina Foreman, Annabelle M. Hay, and Nancy L. Baker; brother Roy Leslie Delauter, Jr.; brothers-in-laws Woodrow W. Hay, John C. Foreman, Harry W. Baker, and Frank T. Murphy, Jr.; sister-in-law Arline H Bowland; nieces Beverly Foreman Beall and Marcia Baker Roberson; and nephew Dennis T. Murphy.

The family will receive friends on Friday, February 6, 2026, from 10:00 until the start of the funeral service at 11:00 a.m. at the Bush Creek Church of the Brethren, 4821 Green Valley Rd, Monrovia, MD 21770 with Rev. Wilkie Nunn officiating. Interment will be on Thursday, February 12, 2026, in Pleasant Hill Cemetery, Monrovia at 11:00 a.m.
