United States Army Veteran, Deacon Earnest Calvin Solomon of 151 Pine Level Road, Americus, Georgia, died Sunday, September 14, 2025, at St. Francis Hospital in Columbus, Georgia.
The funeral service will be held on Friday, September 19, 2025, at 11:00 AM in the sanctuary of the Friendship Baptist Church in Americus, Georgia. The burial will follow at Staley Memorial Garden in Americus, Georgia.
Earnest Calvin Solomon, affectionately known as Pop, was born on February 18, 1939, in Webster County, Preston, Georgia, to the late Ozie Bell Solomon Wallace and Green Tullis (G.T.) Solomon. He peacefully transitioned on September 14, 2025, at Saint Francis Hospital.
He was preceded in death by four siblings: Bennie Wallace, James Tullis Solomon, Willie Clarence Solomon, and John Bernard Wallace; his stepfather, Jimmie Wallace; four sisters-in-law: Margaret Solomon, Judy Wallace, Mattie Myrick, and Dollie Jackson; five brothers-in-law: Willie James Pope, Henry Myrick, James Dunnings, Lee Dunnings, and J.P. Dunnings; and two beloved relatives — his nephew, Kevin Wallace, and niece, Latonia Solomon.
Earnest received his education through the Webster County School System. In 1960, he proudly enlisted in the United States Army, serving his country with honor and integrity. After completing his military service, he worked with Cilas Concrete Construction, Larry Belcher Concrete & Construction, and the Council on Aging.
At an early age, Earnest gave his life to Christ and became a member of Greater New Lebanon Baptist Church. While living in Florida, he joined Delray Community Baptist Church in Delray Beach. Upon returning to Georgia in 1997, he became a devoted and faithful member of Friendship Missionary Baptist Church. There he served with humility and dedication as a deacon, always ready to lend a hand, lead with grace, and support his church family until his passing.
In 1988, Earnest was united in holy matrimony to his beloved wife, Evelyn Myrick Solomon of Americus, Georgia. Their union was a beautiful testament to love, faith, and lifelong partnership.
Earnest leaves behind a legacy of love and cherished memories in the hearts of his brother: Jimmy (Cindy) Wallace of Albany, Georgia; two daughters: Constance Myrick Harris of Americus, Georgia, and Crystal (Paul) Goldsmith of Moss Point, Mississippi; four sons: Torrance (Faith) Solomon of Orlando, Florida, Leroy (Cassandra) Myrick of Americus, Georgia, Ricky (Theresa) Myrick of Smithville, Georgia, and John Rashad Harris of Columbus, Georgia — his devoted grandson whom he lovingly raised as a son.
He is also survived by a host of beloved grandchildren, including: Torrance Solomon, Jr., Joshua Solomon, Antwan Streeter, Rosalyn Myrick, Ricky (Aisha) Myrick, Jr., Jessica (Terrance) Kleckley, Christopher Myrick, Shalnica (Nicholas) French, Keino (Turquoise) Jones, Kynila (Maliek) Brunswick, Maurice (Kanisha) Harris, Travis Harris, Carrie Harris, Corey Harris, Brock Engram, Paula Goldsmith, Jasmine Harris, Jade Harris, Jeffery Goldsmith, and Patricia Richards.
His family legacy continues through 20 grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren, and 3 great-great-grandchildren, all of whom brought him great pride and joy.
He is also lovingly remembered by: five sisters-in-law: Rosa Mae Solomon of Americus, Georgia, Virginia Wallace of Plains, Georgia, Panella Myrick of Hephzibah, Georgia, Linda Thompson of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, and Jacqueline Myrick-Lane of Albany, Georgia; one brother-in-law: Thomas (Bonita) Myrick of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.
Earnest’s church family at Friendship Missionary Baptist Church held a special place in his heart. The fellowship, support, and spiritual growth he experienced there were integral to his life and legacy.
He also leaves behind a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends whose love and support were a blessing throughout his journey.

My dear uncle you will truly be missed. He was the last of the Solomon men. Our heart hurts because we are unable to be there to witness your life being dedicated back to God but, we are there in heart and spirit. We know you had a good run here on earth as a disciple for our God and you will do the same where you are now. Uncle you are now with our ancestors and our Lord, rest well Uncle Earnest. Love from your nieces and nephews in Jacksonville Fl, Allison Solomon, DeAnn Solomon, James Moore, Moses Williams, Tiana Myers, Denaesia Pollard, and the late Letonia Solomon spouse Nathaniel Williams.
