Doris Bumgardner Obituary
Doris Florence (Cranmer) Bumgardner, age 88 of Frederick, MD, passed away, Saturday, October 18,2025, at her home with her family by her side. Born March 16,1937 in Mayetta, NJ, she was the daughter of the late Stacy Clifton Cranmer Sr and Florence Lydia (Braunsdorf) Cranmer.
In addition to her parents, Doris is also preceded in death by her husband Glenn Bumgardner of 58 years, sister Janet M. Smith, and stepson Jimmy Whitlock.
Doris' talents, in which she found great joy, were her home cooked meals, hand sewn clothes, knitting, cross stitching, and cake decorating. Many of her family and friends were recipients of the finished products of these talents.
Doris and her husband, Glenn, lived in Twinbrook, a Rockville, MD community, for 28 years where they raised their five children. So many fond memories and cherished friendships were created in this tight knit community. Doris loved to reflect on the Twinbrook days. Doris was also very proud to be a Jersey girl and talked a lot about her upbringing in the small shore town of Cedar Run, NJ.
Doris is survived by her five children: Stacia Lee Lowe (Kenneth) of Hedgesville, WV, Douglas Glenn Bumgardner (Polly) of Northwood ND, Sonja Ann Coupard (David) of Selbyville, DE, Kenneth Alan Bumgardner (Ronda), and Mary Ellen Bumgardner; three brothers: Stacy Clifton Cranmer Jr (Carolyn) of Manahawkin, NJ, Steven Clifford Cranmer (Cindy) of New Gretna, NJ, and Russell Jay Cranmer of Manahawkin, NJ; one sister: Loretta G. Kelemen of Frederick, MD. Doris had eleven grandchildren, forty-one great grandchildren, and two great-great grandchildren, as well as many nieces and nephews. Doris was blessed to have an extended family in which she is also survived by Jerry Whitlock (Teresa) of Saint Stephens Church, VA, and Linda Whitlock, wife of her late stepson Jimmy of Tappahannock, VA. Her extended family brought even more grandchildren, great and great-great grandchildren.
The family would love to acknowledge and give gratitude to Sha who was Doris's caregiver for several years. Also, to Frederick Hospice that brought such a loving and caring team to make Doris' final months as good as they could possibly be. Sha and Frederick Hospice brought the family much peace to know that Doris was being well cared for.
A memorial service will be held at a later date. The family will announce that date once it is confirmed. Doris Florence Bumgardner
