E. Ehlman Obituary

Mrs. E Jean Ehlman, of Frederick, MD, passed peacefully on Monday, May 20th, 2024. She was the loving wife, of 40 years, to the late Charles (Chuck) F. Ehlman, who passed away October 15, 1989.

Mrs. Ehlman was born on December 2, 1930 in Washington, DC. She was the daughter of late Floyd and Edith Hathorne. She was a graduate of Roosevelt High School and attended George Washington University, Temple Business College, and the University of Maryland. Mrs. Ehlman retired from Montgomery County Public Schools after 27 years of service. Prior to that she was the Administrative Assistant to the Inspector General, Signal Corps, Department of the Army.

Mrs. Ehlman was a long-time member of Damascus United Methodist Church where she taught Sunday School for 25 years and was the Director of Education. She was an active member of the Frederick Memorial Hospital Auxiliary, Maryland Retired Teachers Association, several travel clubs, and, with her husband, was active in the student athletic programs in Damascus. Jean, and family friend Robert Snapp, organized a memorial golf tournament to raise scholarships for Damacus student athletes for 20 years. She enjoyed being with her family and friends, traveling, golf, bridge, and volunteering.

Surviving Jean are sons, Steve and wife, Mary, of Florence, SC, Scott of Mt. Airy, MD and Ronnie and wife, Martha, of Harpers Ferry, WV; grandchildren, Dana and husband, Donte Tanner, Christopher and wife, Hailee Ehlman, and Hannah Ehlman. She is also survived by special family members, Greg and Susie Letterman of Mrytle Beach, SC and their children, Aryn and husband, Matt Wheeler, and Ashley and husband, Ray Gemmill. She was blessed with six great-grandchildren, Chase, Ryan, Brynn, Evelyn, Elyse, and Connor.

She was preceded in death by son, Randy Ehlman; sister, Marjorie Mercer; and foster brother, Glenn Starr.

A memorial service will begin at 2 p.m. on Saturday, June 15, 2024 followed by a visitation held at Stauffer Funeral Home, 1621 Opossumtown Pike, Frederick, MD 21701. Rev. Tim May will officiate.

In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to Frederick Health Hospice, 1 Frederick Health Way, Frederick, MD 21701. Expressions of sympathy may be offered to the family at StaufferFuneralHome.com. Mrs. E. Jean Ehlman
