Edward McKissick Obituary
After graduating from Thurmont High School in 1956, Edward served in the US Army from September 1961 to September 1963 before he was honorably discharged. After which he spent several years painting radar domes on military installations for an independent contractor. Oh, the stories he could tell of his world-wide travels.
In 1974, he re-settled in the area, marrying Marilee Putman Favorite and becoming the most wonderful father to three little children. He ran Ben Hill Farm until his retirement at age 65. He loved being home, never straying far once he settled down. He has now joined his wife, who predeceased him in March 2021. He was also predeceased by sister, Nancy Davis. Surviving are those three children he made his own: Kenneth (Denise) Favorite; Susan (Albie Little) Favorite and Doug (Don Keeney) Favorite, all of Thurmont. Also surviving is sister Patsy Ware.
It takes DNA to make a father, but it takes something special to make a dad - and he was the very best. As much as he liked being at home, he loved his family more. We were blessed to have him as our dad.
He was a private person; preferring little fuss and, in keeping with that, his funeral will be a private family time. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to either the "Make a Difference in Thurmont Fund" or the "Kenny and Denise Favorite Memorial Fund" at the Community Foundation of Frederick County at 312 Church St., Frederick, MD 21701 or at https://www.frederickcountygives.org. How well I remember Ed joining with Marilee and her family and becoming a great father. Doug was a friend of my son's and I knew all three of the "kids" through school events and especially 4i-H. Ed was a part of all their endeavors as was Marilee. I was pleased that my son could often visit their home/farm.
This was a well-written obituary honoring a special man.
