Edward Francis Rose

It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Edward Francis Rose on September 22, 2025 at his home in Frederick, MD.

Born on April 30, 1951, in Bethesda, MD, Ed was the son of the late Shirley M. Rose and Edward W. Rose.

Ed was a Chef and instrumental in the success of many downtown restaurants, including but not limited to: The Province Restaurant, Manyunk Tavern, Jennifer's, Catering by Lu, and the Elks Club. Ed and Lu also opened a restaurant called Nunzio's.

Ed enjoyed Fishing, charcoal drawings at an early age, writing poetry and knife and gun collecting. Ed was the founder of the WMDA (Western Md Dart Association) He was on several dart leagues and he was hard to beat! Ed was an avid history buff. He was a critical thinker.

He wanted his last words to say, "He was a legend in his own mind!"

Ed is survived by his son, Edward J. Rose and his wife, Lisa; grandchildren, Abbey and Justin, who were so loved by their grandfather; his sister, Julia Morris and her husband Daniel; nieces and nephews-in-law, Emily Carroll, Johathan Saulten Morgan and Sharod Mckinnon; and great nieces, Avery and Aila are going to greatly miss their "Uncle Eddie."

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister, Barbara J. Rose; his grandparents; and Aunt Barbara and Aunt Jean.

A memorial service will begin at 3 p.m. on Friday, October 24, 2025 at Stauffer Funeral Home, 1621 Opossumtown Pike, Frederick.

The family will continue celebrating Ed's life following the service at a location to be announced.
